Camping Naturista El Portus
Reviewed April 26, 2013

We had a brillent week, the sun shone for the most part of our 12 day stay. We stayed as part of the British Naturist holiday week hosted by Clive. We had a hasenda, apartment 205 the apartment was very nice, clean but not ideal for the additional + 2. The overall site was clean and tidy and very friendly. We used the loverly indoor pool, the beach, the spa area (I had an excellent massage). The restaurant was very nice and the staff had a good grasp of English. The reception staff could not have more friendly and helpful. We had some great nights in!
The area is full of history and we enjoyed several trips out and about.
Thanks to all those that made this week so memerbile.
One of the main attractions for me was to be able to go Kayaking straight from the naturist beach, what a trip we paddled almost as far as Cartegena!
We will be back next year

Room Tip: Great view and the one we would return to! the 3 floor gives the best views over the bay

After reading so many positive reviews, what a disappointment! Without any doubt the worst naturist resort that we have ever visited. Our accommodation was basic, situated in what resembled a run down car park, and once we had walked to the beach (tiny with heavy shingle and rocks) we decided to turn straight round and leave. The pool and lovely helpful receptionist were the only redeeming features. Incredibly over-priced for what is on offer. We will certainly not ever return, there are many cheaper and more attractive sites up and down the coast offering far superior accommodation and facilities at much cheaper rates.

Situated right on the coast alongside the end of a rambla this Camping is good for Summer Holidays as well as long-term stays through the winter as it is open all through the year. Accommodation can be in small houses which have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms called “casitas” or in one of the 15 apartments in the “Hacienda Montalvo” which is a 3 storey new block with all mod cons including air conditioning.
Many people have their own caravans which they bring down with them or leave onsite in the caravan parking area for a small fee. There are also areas set aside for tenting.
There is a large swimming pool open during the summer months and a smaller pool open all year and covered by an enclosure to keep it warm in the winter. The restaurant is well run by an experienced Spanish catering man and the on-site supermarket, although small, is well stocked.
Cartagena city is about 10 minutes drive away where there are abundant shops and supermarkets.
Internet access is via a local Wi-Fi although the 3G mobile connection is more reliable and is connected to Yoigo, Movistar and Vodafone.
During the months of July and August there are mainly Spanish and French visitors but throughout the rest of the year there is a mix of Northern Europeans mainly Dutch, British, Scandinavian and German. The people tend to be from all walks of life although there is preponderance of retired and professional types, especially during the winter.
Occasionally there are unresponsible dog owners and if a complaint is received by the office they are asked to take any badly behaved dog off the site. There is a good Kennels quite nearby.
This is a friendly family oriented resort with good weather for most of the year. Possible rainy seasons may be autumn and spring but frost is highly unlikely. We have been visiting here since September 1988 and now live near the Camping which we can visit every day, as we wish, as we have an annual contract.
There are maybe other Campings more formally maintained than this but the outstanding natural beauty of this place is more than sufficient compensation.
No more enjoyable way of achieving that even, natural looking, all-over tan.
