Very busy old fashioned style authentic tapas bar with inexpensive but lovely croquettas and battered cod tapas. Stand at the bar and wash it down with and great range of vinos, sherry and beers from not much more than a euro. A really authentic Spanish experience.

This place is very busy, and often you need to queue to get in, but it is very well organized, and the waiters are very efficient. This is not a place to spend a long time. Usually you get in, have a beer and a couple of tapas, either standing or sitting. The place has a feeling of 1920s, the waiters wear very traditional clothing, and the food is really delicious. Hot and cold tapas are constantly being prepared, and you can pick and choose whenever you feel like it. The prices are reasonable, but not really cheap.

Stand in line with the Madrilenos. Buy 2 croquetas de bacalao(cod) and 1 Bacalao de la casa. Step to bar and buy a beer. Enjoy the best fish tapas in Madrid.

Very "gemutlich" little bar-cum-eaterie near Plaza del Sol in the heart of the shopping precint.
Stop in for a simple Spanish vermouth and some bacalao/cod; cheap, cheerful & muy autentico.
Recommend highly.

Do not go to Casa Labra if you are a bigmac addict, or if you are interested in the fake kind of modern "tapas" fashionable all over the world.
Casa Labra IS Madrid, and Spain, too.
A very old and genuine traditional, former smoky bar were workers and families have been having a lihgt traditional lunch or dinner for centuries. The atmosphere remains the same since the foundation, in 1860, and the qualiti of food is also the same: no frills, but impressive rough material and very traditional recipes.
Here, on 2 May 1879 a group of workers founded the Partido Socialista Obrero Espanol, - PSOE.
