“Taster menu and Gin&Tonics”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

Yum!!! This place is a fair trek outside of Madrid but it's so worth it!! From the second you arrive you are treated like you are the only guest in the place, even though it's busy. It's a family business and the waiters are amazingly attentive. Particularly loved the little cart they wheel over to your table to make their Gin and Tonic cocktails. It's like a little theatre piece! 7 course taster menu was fab and they checked if there was anything we didn't like before they brought everything out, so they could substitute where required. Also, if you have children, the staff were so sweet to all the kids in the restaurant and went out of their way to make them feel special. All in all, fantastic!

“Very pleasant surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

We found this place through Tripadvisor - we really didn't expect to come across anywhere worthwhile near the airport. In reality it's a destination place. It is more of an (up market) tapas bar than a full-blown restaurant but the food is just great. We were guided by a waiter and ate things we might not have ordered ourselves, but everything was top notch. Friendly, and there seemed to be a lot of locals there. Highly recommended.

“I expected more. The trip is not worth.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

The place is a little bit out of the way and you have to go there on purpose. Although the restaurant is correct, the fourth place in Tripadvisor for Madrid is by far not justifed. The suid was top, all the rest very normal but correct, nice tiramisu, flat meat and fish, good tuna tartar, dissapointing chicken and peas out of season!?. Nice place if you wouldn´t have to take the care to drive there.
I give two stars in order to rank it a little bit down.

“So Good I Came Twice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

I attended a conference in Madrid recently, and whist there has the occasion to dine at BAHIA TABERNA a small restaurant out near the Madrid Airport. I ate there twice, once in the small restaurant at the back of the building and the second time in the bar area (with post-prandials taken outside).
The Bahia Taberna is a small place located in a residential area. From the outside it looks just like countless other places throughout span (and the world). But step inside, and things change. In the back, there are a few tables (maybe a dozen or so covers) along with the Pass into the kitchen. You get a nice view of the workings sitting here. The front is more of a bar with tall chair. And of course, being Spain, you can eat and drink outside.
The menus is mainly Mediterranean and the service sort of tapas style, reminisicnt of the tasting menus I’ve had at other places. On the first night we had several dishes (five courses I think) - the octopus was especially good and the chicken sublime. But the cheesecake for dessert was to die for! We had seconds of that on my first visit and I insisted we have it on our second. A good choice both times.
Drinks were good - the first time we had a nice abraninio and a Ribera del Duero while the second visit I drank wine from the glass (the ‘house’ RBD) as the others were on beer or coke. Their signature drink here seems to be Gin And Tonic. Nothing very special, I hear you say - yeah, right! Possibly the best G&Ts I’ve had in decades. Worth visiting for the drink alone!
While the food and drink was fantastic, the service was even better. The manager and staff were all very passionate about their food and their place and went out of their way to make us feel happy and welcome. They were very informal (tshirts/short trousers), relaxed but very good at delivering an outstanding experience. It’s no wonder why this place is ranked #3 in Madrid!
All things combined, both visits were outstanding - albeit different in ambience (the more formal restaurant vs the bar). This is the sort of place that would get me to go back again and again. I can’t wait to return.

“Incredible, simply incredible”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

Bahia is off the beaten track, near the airport. My wife and I used Trip Advisor to find a great restaurant for our last night in Madrid and are still talking about it. Great advice fromTrip Advisor, we arrived early for our 8 pm reservations and realized they don't really open till 8:30, but we sat in the outside bar and had excellent drinks. They were prepared at the table too, very nice. We were introduced to Miguel who spoke excellent English who was to become our waiter. When our table was ready he brought our drinks and seated us. Very small restaurant but they have seating in the bar, not as cosy but it would work. Miguel showed us the small menu and asked if we would like him to choose for us. He also asked if we have any allergies to any food! Nice touch.
We then proceeded to be treated to probably one of the most pleasant dining experiences we've ever had. 4 courses, each served on different types of plates, and fresh silverware with each course. Miguel checked with us often, even one of the owners/managers checked to see if everything was good. And the food, the flavors, presentation, every course was fantastic!
I could keep going on, just go. And did I mention they offered to call me a taxi without my asking for one? It was waiting for us when we we finished. Don't bother trying to find someplace closer, go, just go.
