I add an excellent time in this traditional fish restaurant. Any dish is tasty is an invitation to the Sapnish way of eating and enjoying life. We had a selection of tapas and then I had the monkfish. Those were simply excellent.
It is nice to have private room when you have meetings. You have a dedicated waiter who takes care of you.
Service is very generous offering you liquors at the end of the dinner.
This is a place you will enjoy for a nice night out in Madrid.

Despite the common complaints concerning the location of La Trainera, it is the absolute best place to visit when you live right around the corner. The food is exquisite regardless of what you order. Nevertheless, be warned: if you want to request anything extra or want to change the content of meals that have not seen any changes in over two decades, you will be met with hostility and outspoken criticism. Whether it is asking for more vegetables or requesting the removal of bones from your fish, the staff in the restaurant will be reluctant to comply with your requests and will complain about doing it. Although the restaurant is visited by some of the wealthiest people in the neighborhood, the waiters offer the worst service in the city. Whether you're a tourist or a local millionaire, your waiter will certainly think that he is above your social status and will not only avoid looking you in the eye and helping you out but will also shove menus in your face, put down plates noisily and basically degrade you to the level of a neglected animal. Although service in Spain is generally provided along these lines, it is still extremely disappointing having to pay a small fortune for an incomplete experience. While the food is definitely worth the endurance, patience, and price, much work needs to be done in order for this place to become truly perfect. Perhaps one day Spaniards will manage to combine good food with good service, but, alas, today was not the day.

This famous seafood restaurant in upscale barrio Salamanca has been around for ages. My dad would bring my mom here when they were dating! It has the best seafood in town but as other reviewers say it is pricey and the decor is not fancy at all. If you love seafood and you want to rub elbows with the creme de la creme of Madrid society then this place is for you.

We're suckers for the Grilled octopus here, which is so hard to find comparably good, that we tend to order only this. But our few forays into other dishes have not been disappointing. I have also failed to find in N.Y.C., any olives comparable to the ones served here--soft and succulent. This place is our "go to" restaurant in Madrid; we stay in the area, so we can walk here; it's that good. Not fancy décor, but it delivers in the fish department, and draws an upscale crowd.

Overpriced fish, unfriendly service and literally no fresh vegetables.
The fish itself was ok - Pulpo was tasteless though.
It seemed like a waste to walk there - The area is dull at night as its in a shopping district.
My wife ordered a starter with artichokes and then asked if there was any other veg. The waiter shrugged - "yes, artichokes". They were marinated (canned?) and tasteless.
