A very attractive modern and good value apartment situated close to the cathedral and walking distance to the royal palace (about 20 minutes). We were all disappointed at the lack of mirrors in the apartment - there was only one which was above the washbasin - which made it extremely difficult when four ladies were trying to dry their hair/apply their make-up. There were plenty of plugs in the bedrooms and but no mirrors. Also the crockery is chipped and there is a lack of decent sized cups for tea/coffee - the only ones we could find were very small - espresso size, other than that the kitchen was well equipped. Having said all that we would gladly stay there again in the hope that next time the lack of mirror/cups would be rectified.
My husband, 18 year old daughter, and I just returned from a week-long stay in this Madrid apartment. It is very centrally located -- easy walking distance to many of the major sights, such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol,
and the El Rastro market. It's a little bit further distance to El Retiro, the Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen, but still very doable/reasonable by foot.
The La Latina and Tirso de Molina metro stops are also close by, as are several bus stops. The surrounding neighborhood is lively, with plenty of bars and restaurants to explore. My personal favorite was Tacos and Tapas, which is just around the corner on Calle de Redondillo. Small, cozy place, with friendly service and good food. There is a grocery store (Dia) close by on Calle de Bailen, and don't miss the Mercado de la Cebada!
The apartment itself is comfortable and was the perfect size for the three of us. We particularly enjoyed the large windows in the living area and were happy to use the small washer/dryer midway during our stay. We did not need to use either the heat or the A/C, so I can't speak to either of those. In general, the apartment is quiet, although there is daily trash pick up (between 2-4 AM) that might be a problem for light sleepers. My daughter and I both were awakened a couple times during our stay, although my husband slept through for our entire stay, no problem! There are also occasional late night revelers, whose laughter and conversation float up to the windows as they make their way down the street. The apartment is on the 2nd floor (European 2nd floor, 3 flights of stairs) and there isn't a lift, so this might be a concern for anyone with mobility issues or for families with very young children. One other thing to mention is that there isn't much privacy in the 2nd bedroom, as the entry to the bathroom requires going through the foyer of this bedroom -- don't think this would be an issue for most families, but I wouldn't recommend this apartment for two couples.
Yoima (owner) was responsive to my emails and inquiries. Daisy met us at the apartment as scheduled; she provided the keys, showed us around the apartment, and gave us some general information about the neighborhood. Overall we had a very nice stay and would return next time we're in Madrid.
Perfect location for sight seeing and night life yet on a lovely quite street. Equipped with everything you could need. A beautiful spotless apartment.
Was my first time in Madrid! I'm so glad I chose this apartment to stay. Very close to royal palace, Almudena cathedral and San Francisco church.
Location is perfect. Subway is 10 minutes away, there is good restaurants all around, tour bus stops nearby as well!
The apartment is beautiful!!!! I highly recommend it! Yoima Valles is very nice and helped us with all we needed.
I'll return for sure and stay here again!!!!
This apartment was the best of our journey! It is beautiful, great location, and our host was very accommodating to our arrival time. Our host also provided a referral for a taxi who picked us up at the airport and a handy sheet of local restaurants and things to do. Soap, shampoo was provided. Linens, towels, beds all very nice. Full kitchen with everything you could need.
Stay with my husband and young teenage children. Fantastic location. Close to all the great places to eat and visit in Madrid. Only downside is it can be noisy at night.
