very good food, and cheap. Only problem: it is crowded, so try to go early. Try the croquetas and zapatillas, but be careful with the plates, they are huge!!

Popular among students. Quantity not quality. Huge low cost fried sandwiches. (lots of bread, cheap meat, cheap cheese). Croquetas stuffed with cheap bechamel but little meat, basically you'll be eating flour, milk + bread crumbs. Pimientos padron are ok. (fried green peppers). Always crowded. If you want to feel full, it's ok but for that price you can also get a day menu (menu del dia) with a 1st, 2nd and dessert + drink. Some young-student atmosphere, don't expect comfortable seating.

A really cheap place near "Lavapies" metro stop. The most important food is a big sandwich called zapatilla, filled with pork shoulder and cheese. One sandwich (11€) is enough for 4 persons. Croquetas are good too. Serive is fast.
Staff is really kind: the owner advises you if you're ordering too much food. Some tables are available on the back.

It is! If you miss galician tastes and flavors or simply need a special simple bar where to eat extremely well and a plenty, don't miss this galician bar close to Lavapies Square (and metro) it's worth it! apparently it looks like the same old and sad madrilenian bar for old people except for the crowd of people crammed like sardines asking for zapatillas, croquetas and empanadas.. please, do the same because you will never taste anything like that, with those big big servings at a very low price. A "raciòn" of croquetas means they will give you at least 8 of them, hot, thready, deep fried..1 € each (of course you can ask for one only), the zapatilla (grilled sandwich with ham and sweet and soft galician "tetilla" cheese) is about 7 € but really is a complete meal itself! And the owner and his mother will welcome you with an incredibly quick service.. buen provecho

This bar is cheap and the food is delicious. No wonder it's always packed
