“Must visit in Madrid if you are a vegetarian”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Visited this small boutique sort of restaurant for lunch very close to our hotel. The palace in Madrid. Being pure vegetarians were amazed to find authentic Spanish vegetarian dishes all fresh and hot.The place was fully packed and it seemed was preety popular among the locals too. Little steep on the price side but surely worth a visit.

“Good food - HORRENDOUS service!”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

A small group of work colleagues & I went to Artemisa with high expectations, based on the recommendation of a friend who lives nearby. The food certainly didn't disappoint, but the service was absolutely appalling! At first I thought I must be misinterpreting the actions of our host / server. But after the 3rd or 4th time he slammed something onto the table it was quite clear to all of us that he would have preferred that we did not disturb him on that otherwise quiet evening in the restaurant. We will most certainly oblige him and go somewhere else next time.

“Some of the best food of our trip”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We had some of the best food in our two week trip to Spain at this 25 year-old vegetarian restaurant. One sign of the quality of the food here is the regulars who are repeat diners, in some cases without being vegetarian themselves. Great soups, salads, croquettes, paella, seitan "meat" dishes and much more.

“Vegetarian delight”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

This is a quaint modest looking restaurant that serves vegetarian fare. The 7 color salad was very plain and uninteresting though the portion was large. We had moussaka and another eggplant dish. Both were tasty, nice favors but a bit on the heavy side. It was way to much food. You can easily split one main. The service was excellent.

“Delicious desserts”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

We'd noticed this mostly-vegetarian (they have two chicken dishes) restaurant while hunting for someplace else, and the tiramisu and homemade cheesecake caught our eye, so we returned just for dessert.

The place was busy and lively at 3:00 PM on a weekday, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. This is obviously a popular, well-liked restaurant, with many vegetarian and organic selections.

The tiramisu was superb: creamy, with only the thinnest imaginable layers of cake, the rest mascarpone cheese, espresso, and coco powder. Very flavorful, not sweet, just wonderful. The homemade cheesecake Artemisa was also delightful: very cheesy, only lightly cakey, smooth, flavorful. My only suggestion for improvement would be to use less sweet berry sauce, or keep the berry sauce on the side so the diner can choose how much to have.
