We had clean, modern and minimalistic rooms with a spacious bathroom and great shower. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Two thumbs up for those elements.

However, I would only recommend this hotel to you if you don't mind a 10-min walk plus a couple of transfers on the Metro to the tourist sights like the Prado, Plaza del Sol...

It is also not convenient to the airport by public transportation. It takes about 3 or 4 transfers and about an hour to get there via bus/metro. Definitely take a taxi instead.

having being allocated a room at the Barcelo due to the recent volcanic eruption it was with some trepidation we made our way there via taxi from the airport, cost was 32 euros, the Barcelo is a little out of the way in a commercial district its more a conference hotel, but what it lacks in location the staff more than compensate, they are professional, very friendly and some have very good English, the hotel is stylish, clean, modern decor all kept in immaculate order and only 70 euros a night per room includes breakfast buffet.

Metro is nearby with very good links to the airport and Madrid centre and only 1 euro per journey, if you dont mind travelling into the city centre would recommend the Barcelo.

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel from 27th Dec-30th Dec 2008.
The trip from the airport to the hotel was about 40Euros via taxi but got a feeling the taxi driver took us on a bit of a detour.

The hotel is set amongst an industrial and grey area, not particularly pretty, but didnt mind it at all because we were hardly in that vincinity.

The hotel feels like a business hotel (maybe it is?) so I liked it alot because it was clean and chic.
Room was extremely well-maintaned, bed was very comfortable, room was spacious enough for 2 people.
The bathroom is also very spacious for 2 persons and the shower was great!

Some reviews mentioned the location was terrible but honestly..its not bad at all. About 10 minutes to walk to the nearest metro and it is quite a pleasant walk. (though a lot of irresponsible dog owners allow their pets to poop all over the sidewalk but we made it into a game of dodge the poop)

A warning though that food at the hotel is expensive (had dinner at the restaurant. some fish main dish for 30Euros and it was tiny) and best to eat out. There is a mall near the metro where you can stop for some food and a grocery store 5 minutes from the hotel where you can purchase snacks, water etc.

All in all great hotel. Service was good and prompt and friendly and front desk helped a lot even though a couple of them was not very fluent in English.

We stayed two nights, arriving on a Sunday. The lady at reception was helpful. The restaurant was open but not expecting any guests (we were the only people to have lunch). The room was OK and clean with a nice bathroom. It was relatively cheap and we may stay there again.

this hotel was great looking, friendly, and stylish. its located in the suburbs of madrid on the Ciudad Lineal (Line 5)you are going out to enjoy the madrid nitelife after the subway stops running, the N5 bus from banco espana will get u back to ciudad lineal station. which is a 10min walk from the hotel and its a 15min subway ride to the SOL stop. the wifi is free but it sucks its not a great signal and it goes in and out. Room service is not 24hr more like 17hrs but it has good food, the beds were comfortable and clean so its a nice hotel
