Silken Puerta America
Ranked #113 of 438 Hotels in Madrid
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 3, 2013

the overall rating is Good, there's no iron and ironing table in the room.
The hotel is located far from city center, but there is a bus station 146 next to the hotel (very service to commute to town). If you want to go to metro station or to the airport the hotel have a shuttle service (free) very handy to go to a metro station.
The hotel also can pick you up from the airport or take you there (free) which is great.

Dear IssamGi,

Thank you very much for your review, but we’ve got the feeling that you are not rating our hotel (maybe Hotel Silken Puerta Madrid?), since we do not have a free shuttle to the airport and the metro station is 2 minutes walking…

But we will be more than happy if you visit us in your next stay in Madrid! ;-)

Kind regards,

Hotel is amazing, architecture and decoration are simply stunning.
Staff is professional and helpful. The view of the city is gorgeous.

If you are not comfortable with a circular bed, do not choose the 7th floor.
Located a few metro stations from the center.

Dear Costumer,

We are really sorry to hear that your experience at our hotel was not as good as you expected, our 7Th floor designed by Ron Arad has an amazing concept, but if it doesn’t match with your style, there are 11 floors more to discover.

Our main goal is to offer our costumers not only a place to stay in, but a home away home and our team works everyday to make our guest feel like that.

Kind regards,

After checking the hotel online I guess I had too high expectations and thought I was going to have a special experience. I was a bit disappointed as my deluxe room didn't look like the one on the website. My room was dark wooden room by a Japanese designer (10th floor) which didn't make it special at all. I've managed to change it for a completely white one on level 2 (Norman Foster) which was much better with the shower in the middle of the room. I couldn't close the blinds, there was no desk, a hard bed and the view to the highway was not very nice but at least the room was more interesting. Maybe will be nice if they offer a tour as they do at Hyatt on your first stay.
We couldn't have an early dinner as the restaurant opens a bit late but managed to have lunch the following day. Food was nice but very expensive.

Overall was an interesting experience but next time I will probably book one closer to downtown!

Definitively on the paper this is very attractive: one designer per level that sound great.

Except design is not always convinient !
A fully red bedroom with a round bed and everything round can make you loosing your balance and prevent you to sleep !
Despite 4 elevators be repared to wait ans wait to use them ! The reason ? All the customers are moving to a level to another one to see how is the design of the different 12 floors !! Expect noises in the coridors due to this unexpected movements in an hotel.

The technology for lighting and the different curtains screens and electric windows is a bit challenging .. took me 10 mn at night to close all this and to be able to get to my bed !

A big problem was the WIFi.. free but not working (or so slow..), shame such level business hotel dont have a decent WIFI network. WIFI is today not an option and I wont return to this hotel for this lack of network.

Service was OK, food OK too.

2 nights were enought in this "fancy" hotel

Dear Costumer,

Thank you so much for your review!
As you said, our hotel is a unique concept of design, each floor has it’s own and personal concept, so our guests can choose the room that matches the best with their needs, from a wide range of styles.
The 7th floor design by Ron Arad has an amazing design, but if it’s not what you've been looking for, we have 11 floors more to discover!
We do have a Premium Internet service, please if you decide to visit us again; do not hesitate to ask for this service.

We got a deal for this hotel through lastminute. It was one of their top secret hotels. When we arrived, we were told that thye did not have the room we had booked (we asked for a room on the 5th floor as I loved the design from their website). We thought 'here we go, got a cheap deal, they will give us a rubbish room.'. Instead, the receptionist gave us an automatic upgrade. We ended up with a room on the 7th floor. The room was amazing, a massive round bed, a bath that I couldn't touch end to end, and a projector TV that came down from the ceiling!

We didn't use any hotel facilities apart from the gym, which was very small and oddly lighted (the bulbs were red tinted). Only criticism was that the floor we stayed on had a very hard floor, so sound from the corridor reverberated around your room. I was woken up a couple of times (I am a very light sleeper), but my boyfriend slept through it all.

The hotel is a bit out of the City Centre, but the metro stop (Cartegena) is only a couple of minutes walk away and you can be in Sol within 15 minutes. I wouldn't pay full price for the hotel, but for the experience if you can get a discount/deal I would definitely recommend staying there.

Room Tip: Make sure you check the website and email for your preferred floor. If you don't get the room yo...

We really like this hotel, we actually visited Madrid again because we had such a good prior experience at this hotel, if you like modern this is the hotel for you!, each floor is designed in a differant style (something for everyone), whilst the rooms are not the biggest they are well equipped , location is excellent, the staff are friendly whilst not being false (like in many 5 star hotels), facilities are what you would expect, being on a main street you might worry about noise from the cars, no reason for concern as the rooms are well insulated with remote windowcurtains!

The buffet breakfast can only be described as excellent and the bars and restaurants are certainly worth a visit!

If i was on a business trip in Madrid this is the only hotel i would consider, we travelled with our 9 year old daughter so i can also say it suits families!
