This was the highlight of our 3 nights in Madrid. My wife and I do not speak Spanish, but with the music and costumes we didn't need to. I would definitely recommend watching the movie before going as a refresher, but this should be the first thing you book in Madrid.
The orchestra, the scenography, and the singers-actors did it all excellent
The attraction have a lot of jokes andaluzas interpreted by Timón
The Theater have a lot of plays of art and a shop
I thought going to see a show would be a good day to practice my Spanish so I bought a ticket for the Rey Leon (Lion King) and I wasn't disappointed. Lavish costumes, great singers and actors made this night unforgettable. Even if your Spanish is not up to par, just the beautiful setting and energy of the cast will keep you amazed.
I went on a school trip to see it and I was amazed! The moment the light went out it is amazing! The singing, the actors, the music everything was amazing. I am going back with my family hopefully soon! I was crying because it was so beautiful. I strongly recommend going to see this musical
We planned our trip to Madrid mainly to see this musical (my girlfriend is a huge fan).
The opening already took our breath away, the costumes and the set were beautiful.
We don't speak Spanish, but knew the story, so could follow what's going on more or less but lost e.g. the puns and "funnyness" of Zazu.
The actors were good, except maybe the adult Simba - somehow we didn't like him too much. I was surprised a bit by the crowd, and that they sell popcorn and coke - it was more like a cinema experience as a theater...
If you're expecting a broadway production style don't bother. This production is overrated for what it really is.
The theater stage is small and the seats are really uncomfortable. The head in front of you will block a considerable portion of the stage.
The production is ok if you think of it as something small. Uncoordinated, etc.
