Great show, colours and scene is every detail well combined. Very professional people on stage, musicians... You cab see they are doing something they love. If you are Spanish you understand some funny jokes. I personally think price is too high. We drank a coke and payed 6€!
I think I enjoyed it more than my daughter... Everything was perfectly in point, the signing, the music, the characters (timon and pumba are hilarious) is a must in Madrid!
It might be better if we know Spanish, Anyhow it was colorful enough that we stayed for the whole show. the response from the audience was good and it was a Spanish style experience, perhaps?
We sat at the middle of the second to last row on the second floor. The spotlight was distracting unfortunately.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed by this musical. I expected more then what we got and partially the theatre is to blame for this. It is old, small and don´t think it is the ideal place to show a production of this size.
We were seated in the "balcony" (palco), last row, which is just one step up from the rest, on two chairs dating from the time of Luis XIV, with a wooden support for your feet. Probably one of the best places to be seated since the rows in the rest of the theatre do not have a sufficient incline to be able to see well.
The start of the show was very impressive with the actors coming in through the back and passing the public, but again here the room is simply not big enough for this kind of production. If the setting would have been different I would probably have enjoyed it more and considered it more worth the money (nearly 200 euros).
The singers tremendous, especially Rafiki, Scar and the adult Nala. Nala and especially Simba, as children, didn't have the right voices to carry far in the theatre.
Impressive the way it has been set up combining all the different aspects of theatre, including the costumes, and a big applause to the actors, who made this musical come alive, despite the surroundings they have to work with.
Want to mention as well Zazu and Timon, considering they have to let the public believe that it is the "doll" that speaks and sings, and they are perfecty able to do so.
Again I would have enjoyed this much better if the setting would have been different, they should have chosen a theatre that is more modern, with a bigger stage, which would have done this production way more justice then it does now.
Should you see it? I wouldn't say it is a must, at least not in Madrid.
Fantastic show. You don't need to be fluent in Spanish to enjoy it. Really impressed with the children that act. Fantastic costumes. It's my all time favorite musical.....so I may be a little biased.
If you are in the process of learning Spanish though I highly recommend buying the CD of the songs at the theatre. It's fun to learn.
This time went with two young kids 4 and 6 and their grandma. We all speak some Spanish and throughly enjoyed it. It's the second time we've seen it here in Madrid (so I guess that's an indication of how good it is).
For smaller children it's worth knowing that you can get a plastic booster seat to raise them up and enable them to see over any tall people in front. You just need to ask the stewards.
We had a great view from the 1st balcony, about 4 rows back next to the isle. You can see the whole of the stage and a little of the isle between the stalls (so when the animals process in you can see themselves little before they arrive on stage). Previously we've sat in the stalls and for the difference in price of the tickets I actually prevented the seats in the balcony. They are more tiered so if you're a vertically challenged adult like myself it means you can see perfectly.
Be aware that the bar downstairs is very busy, we found the bar upstairs had hardly any queue before the show so we'd recommend using that. As always in theatre the ladies loos have massive queues but again the toilets upstairs didn't. Oh and if you want to take the obligatory selfie with the lion king logo before going in, arrive early. Both times there's been a big queue for that too.
I went with my 5 year old; he just loved it! he knew the movie by heart. The scene was ashtounding, he didin't blinck! ANd i liked it very much too
