“Beautiful boutique hotel”
Reviewed July 13, 2011

This is not a 5 star in terms of traditional luxury, but it deserves a 5 because of it's helpful staff, cleanliness, beautiful wood floors throughout, reasonable rates, and unusually large rooms (by European standards). Location is very good. I could easily walk everywhere. It's not in the heart of a popular plaza, but it is across the street from a Starbucks. The only minor problem I had was that the wifi does not work well. That would have been bad i needed to work, but I was on vacation, so it wasn't a big problem. I highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Madam

Thanks a lot for your beautiful words. It is nice to know that the hotel covered your expectation and also that you compared us with a 5 star hotel, this is our objective and we work everyday trying to get it.

It is real that the hotel offers a very good value for money if we compare with other hotels in the area with the same facilities. We recommend to the visitors reserve as soon as possible because we send specials earlybooking discounts.

I am sorry about the speed of the wifi connection, we checked it in case there was a problem with the system but we think that it was a punctual problem.

Thanks for you marvellous rating to the hotel, we appreciate it and we hope to see you soon.

Best Regards

I was on vacation with friends checked in June 24 Friday thru Tuesday . When I checked in to my room on the 4th floor Room 403 they were doing construction on the floor above me . Okay did not let it bother me since I would not be in the room much but then but the afternoon there was a terrible paint smell . I complained to the office and told me sorry the Manager is not back to Monday. Saturday came and the construction started again and the paint smell was so bad your eyes would tear. Complained again and they said we had the maid open all the room windows... ok great but I asked them to open the windows in the hallway to air out the floor but the hotel would not open the windows on the floor. Okay it is summer and hot really wanted the air on and not keep my window open. I cannot believe this hotel would not at least tell there guests what is happening and at least apologize to the people staying in the hotel. How do you get 4 stars if they cannot run the hotel when the Manager is not on duty.

Dear Customer,

Due to reasons beyond the hotel we had to polish the floor of the attic room. The contractor for the job told us told us that neither we nor our customers would realize about the jobs they were doing.

Since the works lasted two or three days we think that customers would not notice about it that is why we did not say anithing about it.

Of course if we have bothered you or any other guest I give you my most sincere apologies and say that this was a timely matter.

I hope you can give us the opportunity to change your mind about our hotel in a future stay.

Sincerely,

David Cachavera

Great Location : Easy walking distance (2 to 5 minutes) to different Metro Lines ( Banco De Espana & Gran Via) . The Airport Express bus charges only 2 euros per person and drops you off to Cibeles which is a short distance walk from the hotel. Most tourist sites are within 5-15 minutes walking distance. Superbly located just off the Gran Via within Cheuca district .
Room : Though the room isn't very large , it is clean and comfortable and has basic amenities . The room has nice tall windows leading to a small balcony. The window has shutters to regulate both air and light.. Bathroom was large and airy. The only negative was the noise from the street as were on the 1st floor, though this wasn't constant.

Breakfast : We didnt make it to breakfast on most days as it closes at 10:30am, but there is a Starbucks right accross the road with a great selection of eats. We didn't eat at the restaurants within the hotel as there are many many food options all around the hotel within Chueca.
Staff : Generally all very helpful and attentive .
The hotel offers free wifi and that was very useful as the connection was strong and fast.
In all a very good stay, would definitely consider this hotel again for our next visit to Madrid.

We are a young gay couple looking for a reasonable balance of comfort, convenience (to sightseeing, shopping and party spots) and value on our big cities excursion. We booked the Lusso Infantas because of all the great reviews here, and the hotel certainly met our expectation. The hotel itself is quite excellent, though something we experienced (and I assume it was an unusual experience) caused our stay to be less than ideal. We stayed here for five nights.

Located in Cheuca, the location of the hotel was ideal for us. It is within the city centre (and everything is pretty much walking distance when you are in the centre), less than five-minute walk from four subway stations. It is just far enough from the touristy Puerta del Sol so it is convenient but also not chaotic/messy. It is also on the edge of the rather lively gay area, which means it is almost always busy at night. That’s a good thing as the neighbourhood looks a little rough (streets are narrow, building are old, storefronts are half close), but with the walking traffic even late into the evening we always felt pretty safe. There are a good number of nice/trendy restaurants nearby to choose from as well (the hotel restaurant is noted in the Michelin guide, and there is another one also noted just around the corner).

We stayed in standard double rooms. We stayed in an exterior room (windows open to the street with a small balcony) on the second floor on the first night and an interior room (windows open to inside the building) on the fourth floors for the remainder of the trip. Both rooms were quite spacious (enough space to layout two large suitcases and still plenty of room to walk around). The free wifi is always appreciated when in a foreign city. Ironically, the most/only unattractive parts of the rooms are the ugly bed covers, which is sad as it dominates any photos taken for the rooms. Overall, the rooms are fairly well decorated. The bathrooms were excessively large with quite a bit of unused space (probably a remnant of the old building… I suppose you can layout your suitcase there…), but clean and functional nonetheless.

We switched room because the first room was extremely noisy in the morning starting at 8am (with the street traffic outside and some construction work next door). Since our routine is to stay out till 5 or 6am, the morning is our prime sleeping hours. We raised the issue on the second day and the front desk person in the morning/early afternoon, Tania, helpfully found us another room in the other side of the building on the fourth floor. Our experience with her was always pleasant, as she was knowledgeable and always helpful.

Staying on the fourth floor presented a different set of challenges. The hotel was doing some renovation work on the fifth floor, so the landing and the hallway of the fourth floor were covered with saw-dust for three days. The workers were working with some sort of chemical one day which strings the eyes. There was no warning given and our eyes were watering when we walked from our room to the stairs. We mentioned it to the guy at the front desk in the afternoon/early evening and he just shrugged his shoulder and said “oh there is renovation going on.” Gee thanks tips! He was also pretty clueless about things. We asked him where the nearest wine shop was. He didn’t know, went on google, and gave us the location of a nearby restaurant call Tienda de Vino (ie. “wine shop” in Spanish) which does not sell retail wine. (There was a wine shop about three blocks west on Infantas as we later discovered.) We also asked him about the airport express bus stop at Cebelis, and he again went on google and got us information we had already found, well on google.

So, we have some mixed feeling about the hotel. We really liked the location and the rooms, and we hope/assume the less than ideal situation we experienced is not the norm.

Room Tip: The street is pretty loud in the morning. Ask for an interior room if you plan to sleep in.

Dear Guest,

I want to tell you that we are happy because you enjoy your stay in our city and in our hotel. I want also to thank you for spend your time to write some words about the hotel in tripadvisor.

As you comment the room size, the decoration and the bathroom are good if we compare with other hotels in the downtown.

We are sorry about the works in the hotel, they finally were more annoy than we expect. I can only send you my more sincere apologizes for all the inconvenience you had in the hotel. This works were only for 3 days and they already finished

About the service in the front desk I want to tell you that normally all the staff is current on all the events in the city, all the transport services, shows… I don’t know what could happened but we will work about this theme and we will try it never happened again.

We hope that in your next visit to the city you give as the opportunity of change opinion for a 5 star rating in tripadvisor

Having stayed in quite a few continental city hotels, I believe it is worth going for what passes for four stars. The room was nothing special, but beds were comfortable, bathroom was excellent and the air conditioning was effective and worked all day. Had a mini balcony that overlooked a quiet street - the latter a big plus. The location is about 300m from Banco de Espana, but pretty much everything is an easy walk anyway.

Staff are English speaking and very helpful - especially with sorting out a crooked taxi driver! The restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Has lovely food and they have a special resident's fixed menu which was excellent value. I would be very happy to stay here again and would definitely go for a meal.

Dear guest,

Thanks for your nice comments about the hotel, we are happy to know that the hotel had covered your expectations.

We are specially glad for your words about the restaurant. We are not tired to invite the people try our restaurant, if you are a guest of the hotel you will find specials menus for you and for everybody there are specials discounts for the “taste menu” for example… Ex Libris (this is the name of the restaurant) has also a big variety of wines around the word. We always say that when you eat in our restaurant we assure you a beautiful gastronomic experience.

See you soon

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring museums and enjoying night life in Madrid. The staff was consistently friendly, including considerate cleaning staff who were tolerant of our late morning schedules and much-needed naps. Breakfast was good, the hotel was clean and I hope to stay there again! Did need my earplugs due to the busy night life and stage for Madrid Orgullo but that is all part of the good location. Only weak point was using the hotel wifi in the room, it was too weak to use. But there is a business center on the lobby floor.

Dear guest,

Thank you to spend some of your time to write something about the hotel, we appreciate it.

During the festivity of Pride Madrid the noise is higher than usual, not in vain more than 1 million people visit Madrid this weekend.

All the people who stay with us say that our cleaning service is great, and it is true because the guest normally put the best rating in the websites.

We see you on the next Pride festivity

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was nice, clean, and well-sized. We also had a balcony, which really adds to the ambience of the room. Also, the pictures on the hotel website accurately show the rooms. The hotel is in an excellent location; it is in walking distance to all major attractions and in a great neighborhood (Chueca) for eating and going out. I highly recommend this hotel. As a side note, the earlier you book the better the discount might be (I waited a week while I debated hotels, and the rate went up a bit).

Dear customer,

I am glad to know that you enjoy your stay in our hotel and its neighbourhood.
As we say in other occasion we always try to be sincere with all the information we show in the web site, but we prefer when the people like you write in different traveller communities like tripadvisor because yours is an opinion more objective

We recommend the people reserve as soon as possible because you can get the best offers.

I hope to see you soon again at the hotel
