“Beautiful and beside Palacio Real, visit the tombs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

Right beside the Palacio Real. Cheap to visit- they suggest a 1 Euro donation. Large cathedral that can be visited for a quick look and walk through, or for spending more time to enjoy the vastness and beauty of the church. Make sure to visit the tombs on the lower level of the cathedral. This is a little hidden and many could easily miss this area. The tomb visit is accessible from the outside of the cathedral. Tomb visit cost 1 euro. The basement that houses the tombs is large and beautiful with side chapels. The tombs are contemporary with many recent interments.

It was en extremely nice cathedral we visited. There was the usual things that you will see in almost every catholic church but there were so many other nice things too.I It's over in 20 minuttes or so, but it is definitely worth the trip there.

There's an obtional donation of 1€

“A Modernist Masterpiece”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

The Almudena Cathedral is a modernist masterpiece with plenty of art inside the church. What is surprising is the crypt below the church, which has many family crypts of the most important families of Spain.

“Incredible - Must See Museo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

One of the few sights open early morning, this cathedral is impressive. The museum opens at 1000 and has an incredible treasury. Allow at least 30 mins for the cathedral itself and 2 hours to enjoy the museum including climbing the dome. EUR6 is well worth it. One way only, so don't be chased by school parties into missing stuff.

“Right next to Palacio Real”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013 via mobile

This was a relatively new church, compared to most of the other cathedrals in Europe.. It is adjacent to Palacio Real and a must do. The glass windows were really pretty.. We went near the altar, which was allowed compared to some of the other churches. Had more tourists compared to number of people who were actually praying.
