“For 20 euros its great!!!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

We stayed 4 nights for 20 euros each day. Modern hotel, friendly service, big rooms and very clean. The bus 53 leaves from outside the hotel and stops in placa canalejas -sol. I wouldnt suggest taking the metro to the centre cause its about 15 min walk from the centre. This travelodge was the best i stayed in. A suggestion. Both sofa and curtains were worn out, if they could repair them, would be perfect. A coffee in the hotel costs 1,50euros and everyday you have 30min free internet.if you want more time you pay a lot...thats no good.

We just stay for a nigth due to an embassy mater and was sufficient to write such an unsatisfying review. The customer service and bar waitress (only 2 people in the whole hotel) were very very badly, they just create an uncomfortable environment being unpolite to the clients. The Included breakfast so poor too and with bad taste. Absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED.

Spent a couple nights during february 2012 and was very impressed with this hotel. It is very close to the airport (one bus takes u close by) as well as being close to the city centre (again one bus journey away) and all important one bus ride away from bernabeu stadium.

The room itself was very clean, cleaned daily and as mentioned above in a very good location. There is a chinese restaurant near enough on site as well a couple other restaurants within close walking distance. There is also a small supermarket closeby. For muslim travellers there is a mosque close by (allegedly the largest in europe) that also houses a halal restaurant.

I would definately stay at this hotel again, madrid has a good bus network and can get you pretty much everywhere. The room was reasonably priced and very clean.

Just got back from Travelodge Torreluguna this morning and absolutely loved it. The hotel was excellent value for money, in a nice area with bars, restaurants and a supermarket. We were a group of three women and we felt really safe and even went out at midnight on the day we arrived. The rooms were basic, but had everything you needed. Tea and coffee making facilities and ironing board available on request. Staff were really friendly and helpful. 15 mins to city centre which isn't bad and the bus is right outside the hotel and ran every 5 minutes and were really clean, so didn't need to use metro, also it was a nice way to see the city. Enjoyed it so much that I will be going back again.Thank you Travelodge!

Booked as part of a package. Arrived late at night so took a Taxi from the airport, about 20 EUR.

Pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious but sparse. Hanging rail with wooden hangers but no wardrobe door or drawers. Small desk, TV with local channels. One chair. Spacious bathroom with full-sized bath, shower over, bidet etc. Plenty of water pressure and hot water. Rooms cleaned and new towels daily.

I had a double bed, which was a bit hard, plain white sheets and cover. if you wanted to do some work there is no convenient light near the desk and only one socket (for the TV).

Reception doubles as breakfast room, again sparse with basic tables and chairs. Breakfast consists of a choice of 3 cereals, coffee, tea, Orange, toast-it-yourself bread, nice to see brown as well as white. Selection of yoghurt, cold meats/cheese, average cold pastries. In a heated server were scrambled egg, hot-dog sausages and fatty bacon.

There is also a 24/7 bar with a draft lager, bottles of Heineken and some spirits. More of a serving hatch than a bar, there is no bar atmosphere.

30 minutes of wi-fi per day, in reception, free on request.

Wi-fi in the rooms seemed a bit pricey at 5EUR per hour.

The nearest Metro is Barrio de la Concepceon 0.5 miles away but there are 2 changes required to get to Sol Square in the centre of Madrid. Bus 53 stops right outside the hotel and terminates at Sol so you don't need to know where to get off. Always a problem with buses I find. Fares are 1.5 Euro.

I took the Metro back to the airport (2 changes required). There is a 3 EUR supplement for trips to/from the airport, payable at the ticket machine or at the airport end. Ticket machines operate in English. Enter ticket into the barrier, gates open, remember to collect your ticket before walking off, you need it to leave the system.

Taxis also charge extra for airport trips, or any station. Official Taxis have a red stripe and shield on the door, they can be hailed in the street.

I think if I go again, I'll try to find something more central, but that may not be possible at this budget in Madrid.

This was our third time staying at this hotel in Madrid & they had slightly improved Wifi situation by giving 30 mins free per day & pronise that it will be free soon! Rooms clean & beds good but the novelty of making the bus journey 4 times a day does wear off & we have promised ourselves a more cental hotel next time.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a weekend break at Madrid Torrelaguna Travelodge and I can absolutely recommend it. The hotel is a little bit out of the city but this shouldn't be a worry due to the excellent public transport system. If you like exploring cities on the cheap and don't mind catching the bus, read on...!

I booked the hotel for a Friday and Saturday night a few months ago for €20 per night and Ryanair flights for £60 return per person from Manchester and being a tight Yorkshire man, this was an epic win....! We arrived in Madrid at 2245hrs on the Friday night and purchased a 3 day tourist pass from the Metro station in the airport at terminal 1 for €13 each which entitles you to travel on all the buses and Metro (tube). From there, if you catch the Number 200 bus and get off at Stop 1285 Arturio Soria (about a 10 minutes ride), walk over the footbridge and then it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the hotel.

We checked in, where the staff were very helpful and our room was the exactly the same layout as any decent Travelodge in the UK, clean, basic, good shower and climate control which is all we needed. If you need more pillows, just ask at reception.

The next day, we went into the city on the Metro which is about a 10 minute walk away to the station and then 20 minutes on the Metro with one change. Madrid is such a nice place, plenty to see and do and eat! We came back to the hotel on the Number 52 bus which stops right outside the hotel (Stop Torrelaguna) and took around 25 minutes. Also, all the buses have free WiFi so make the most of it to keep down on those data roaming charges and is a good way to keep track on where to get off by using Google Maps tracking. We went back into the city that night on the Number 52 bus then back on the nightbus N3. The N3 runs around every 20 minutes from Plaza de Cibeles between 2300hrs and around 0500hrs and, yet again, stops right outside the hotel (Stop 2121 Condesa Venadito - Torrelaguna).

On the Sunday, we wanted to check out El Rastro - the Sunday flea market and the Buen Retiro Park and didn't want to carry our backpacks around. Thankfully, the reception allowed us to store them behind reception and have a tag system so you can be sure no-one is going to take your bag by mistake! After our last bit of exploring, we returned to the hotel on the Number 52, picked up our bags with ease and then walked back to the Number 200 stop (without crossing the footbridge!) for a 10 minute ride back to the airport.

Now, I know I go on a bit about the public transport but like I said at the beginning, if you want to do Madrid on a low budget, this hotel is well worth the money and so is the tourist pass. Get it booked!
