Our trip to Madrid from Tenerife started with the Westin Palace hotel messing up a bit on our reservation; needless to say we were ready for a better experience and we received it. We were welcomed at La Era by Irid and immediately given water and drink order taken. She carefully explained the menu to us and basically we put ourselves in her hands. The mous bouche was a melon soup which was crisp and cool. We started with seasonal peppers and vegetables. Perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. We followed with tuna steak which was fresh and tender. We had braised oxtail last which basically melted in your mouth. Outstanding! All accompanied by wine pairings that made the food pop! Dessert, 2 different chocolate dishes a soufflé mousse and a chocolate tart. Both spectacular!

2 things not happy with. This caliber of restaurant needs to have a cell phone policy. Our meal would have been perfect were it not for the older couple behind us playing candy crush. Pretty obnoxious. A little more upsetting was that this couple was then asked to sign the guest registry while we were not given the same courtesy. It was a little confusing and makes my wife and I concerned about how Americans are perceived and treated. We consider ourselves foodies and really research in detail our restaurants when we travel. We loved the restaurant and will not let that last bit of disconnect in service mar what was a top 5 meal!

We found this restaurant via a good ranking in TripAdvisor and it didn't disappoint. Out of the way in a northern suburb about 20 mins by taxi or Metro it's well worth the trip. Nicely designed frontage sets the scene for a modern style restaurant. Excellently cooked food based on simple solid ingredients. We had anchovies which were excellent with a beautiful texture, just salty enough and croquettes which whilst good could have been a little stronger in flavour, Mains were grilled Hake and Rabbit 'Smarmy Rice' (risoto 'ish) both cooked, flavoured and presented beautifully. Sweets were good including very nice home made sorbet but not too much that stuck out as interesting. Good choice of Spanish wines with some interesting varieties. Excellent service, we had a private room to avoid a large crowd and we were not forgotten as can be the case, Very knowledgeable and helpful waitress made the evening a great experience. One note, our booking was for 8.30pm, early by Spanish standards and the place was shut when we arrived, good job we hung around for a few minutes. And finally, very good value considering the quality and style. We paid about the same in a tired city joint the night before and there was no comparison. It helped that it was suggested that we have half portions on some dishes and was just the right thing to do. All in all an excellent place.

La Era is 15-20 minutes away from Madrid City Center - bur the taxi trip is worth it. La Era is probably one of the best gourmet restaurants in Madrid - the service and food and the wine is absolutely outstanding..

I ate in La Era with a big Group of friends (12 persons). I didn´t know what to expect, but I left restaurant fully satisfied, both for the excellent cooked food and excellent, perfectly adapted, wines and with a final bill that was more than honest.
I would like to prize La Era especially for the choice of the basic food ingredients: each one is chosen with passion, competence and experience: each one is the most fine and pure ones you can select on the market. Compliments.
Cook, then, made its own to give an absolute excellence to the final taste and, why not?, presentation on the plate.
We ate 8 different disches, from appetizers to desserts, I was even very full in the end, and we paid a bill around (wine included) of 55Euro.
Service Ladies took care of us as if we were guests at their own home. Thank you, Ladies!
To be repeated, absolutely, next time I will be back in Madrid.
Excellent restaurant.

This is not close to the centre but worth a visit for the experience of dining in great ambience with excellent food and impeccable service. The staff are all very friendly and you can partly see the chefs cooking for you in the kitchen. It is a pity we did not speak Spanish because although we complimented the two young chefs in English, it would have been nice to honour them with compliments in their language... maybe next time...

Everything was served cooked to perfection and presented artistically on the plate (pity you have to ruin it to eat!).
If you get the chance to go to this restaurant don't let the distance from city centre deter you, you will not regret it.
