I had room 101b at the front of the hotel and had great street views …it is in a bohemian area of Madrid ..working class but it definitely warrants the Number one position on Trip advisor…the room was crisp white, with welcoming apple and a huge bonus kettle and tea……everything that the weary traveller could want. The room was a good size although as a solo traveller I always pay for a double . The huge asset is the staff , particularly Sarah at the front desk …she is a gem …welcoming, assists in every respect ….the owner was wonderful as well and we had terrific chats …..the free high quality coffee machine available at all times topped off a great stay …..have small euro currency for local shops as it is a working class neighbourhood..10 - 20 minute walk to the centre but very close to the Reina sofia

Room Tip: Room 101b was excellent

You´ve answered with a great perfection of details on the Artrip´s hotel description services.

Thank you again for choosing us for your stay in Madrid. Nice little boutique near the Plaza Mayor, so the location can't be beat. The room was small but adequate, and bed was comfortable. Great coffee machine available 24/7, and breakfast was good. A little bit of noise from a room nearby, but the quaint and cool vibe of the hotel made up for any shortfalls there.

This hotel is ok not much more, read the reviews and booked it for my husdands birthday weekend. Its clean and the staff are friendly but the room had no view but a very close wall saying it looked over a iner court yard is misleading . The air con did not work so the room was very hot and stuffy and the bed although huge i think was made of concrete . Breakfast is cheep but not very exciting<The area is a little run down but not bad for getting around all in all this is an OK hotel not sure where some of the other reviews have stayed before!

Dear Deborah Lord,
First of all thank you for your review. For us it is very important your feedback to improve.
I can not understand that when you decide to book a junior suite room in our hotel you don´t check the photos and description in our website. The junior suite is the biggest room 31m2, and communicate with a nice looking to a courtyard, it is an interior room. We honestly explain perfectly in our website hotel.

We feel very sorry If the air conditions was out of order, you did not tell us, and we could´t send you our maintenance team to repair it.

About the bed, I can tell you that is an amazing and high standard bed (I´ve slept many times), and after 2 years nobody until now had a complain about our beds.

We´d love you give us another chance next time you come to Madrid,

Thank you and Best regards,

Lavapies is located in a poorer part of Madrid which seems to be a melting pot of differing nationalities. Don't be put off by this. My wife and I had less hassle here than on the touristy Gran Via. Located only 50 metres from the Metro, the hotel is a little gem. The staff on reception at the Artrip are only too pleased to welcome you and take on the role of tour adviser. The rooms, albeit small have everything that would be available in a larger hotel including safe, empty mini bar (to be stocked from Carrefour supermarket 30 metres away), TV and tea making facilities. The rooms are modern with opaque glass screens separating the rooms and toilet facilities. Double glazed, shuttered windows and air con with fan ensure that the rooms stay cool and quiet for a good nights sleep on extremely comfortable beds. Towels are changed daily and room service ensures that the rooms are kept pristine clean. Continental breakfasts are excellent with choice of cereal, meats, cheese, breads and pastries and all for 5 euro per person. The central location of this hotel make it an excellent choice of any traveller. My wife and I are both in our 70s and managed the trip from the airport by metro with cases ( you need to know the destinations and numbers of the various lines as it is easy to go the wrong way if you are not clued up) All in all, a superb small hotel within walking distance of Madrid's tourist attractions, good value, with cheerful staff who are able to speak good English

We had a great short stay at Artrip Hotel in late May We arrived around 10 am and were able to check in almost immediately. Sara greeted us when we arrived and was extremely friendly and helpful giving us recommendations in the area.

The hotel is very cute. Our room was clean and comfortable with a very comfortable bed. The location is great. We could walk to all major attractions.

We would not hesitate to stay here again!

We just returned from Madrid & Barcelona. We spent 3 nights in this charming boutique hotel. Staff was warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable. Rooms were immaculate and beds were comfortable. Very fast internet connection. Breakfasts were great. Artrip is well located - short walk to major sites (like Reine Sophia & the Prado), but on a quieter street without the crowds and congestion. Would stay there again in a minute.

Room Tip: Attic room is very cozy - tucked under the rafters - yet good use of the space. Small windows look...

Enjoyed a fab couple of nights at this hotel during early April. We had a very warm welcome and being my birthday I was delighted to receive a complementary plate of 'cold cuts' and a bottle of wine - a great start. The room was clean, fresh and spacious. Breakfast was a sufficient continental buffet with quality products and great coffee .... that was available free of charge all day. WiFi worked fine.
We really liked the location, close to transport links and nice local restaurants and bars.

.... note to the management - the only comment we have is that the guest room doors tend to slam loudly.
