After a long day at Retiro Park we finished off by dropping in here.
The entrance was only 2.50 Euros for seniors.
Apart from the vegetable garden with it's interesting vegetable, there wasn't an awful lot to see. Maybe we were spoiled having come from the big park.
We would love to see it in the spring when I imagine it is spectacular.
Large queue as we left, waiting for the free entry.

I visited Royal Botanical Garden in 4th of November 2018 with my husband. recommended to go on a sunny day, which makes the colors of the garden mesmerizing. Entrance is 4euro, we spent only 1,5 hour, without guide. Recommend to see:
1) Invernadero de graells
2)Estanque de linneo
3)Collección de bonsáis
4)Coleccíon de vides
5)Glorieta de los tilos
6)Palmae

A real little gem of a place so close to the centre. Ideal to visit after the Prado or on the way to the main train station. Not as busy as the park and closer to the centre.

Best of the best, a well maintained park, and the plants well identified. 2-3 hours depending on your interest. Many unusual specimens, as well as many duplicates. True it is lacking some maintenance such as raking up leaves, but all in all this garden is awesome.

The Botanic Gardens offer a tranquil place to walk and relax taking you out of the hustle and bustle of central Madrid.
The admission is €6 but you can get it reduced to €4 if you don’t want to see the exhibition in the pavilion.
October is probably off season for the gardens but there is plenty of greenery.
The cafe is good value and the food was very good.

This place has a lot of potential, but obviously lacks maintenance. I saw gardeners, but some of them were more interested in their mobile phones than caring for plants and gardening. Entrance price (6€) is overpriced compared to what you get. Nice bonsai collection, though.

A lovely walk around in the sun was a perfect change of scene before our next museum visit. I think in the summer time there would be more to see but it was still great to step away from the city buzz and take in some nature.

These gardens are in a lovely setting, nicely laid out and a bit of quiet, calm greenery in the midst of the city. However, we had hoped to see more blooms and colour - perhaps we visited at the wrong time of year to see everything in bloom.

Spent an afternoon here when we were done with the bigger named tourist sites and looking for some peace and beauty. This is a working/teaching garden, so it doesn't have the polished appeal one might find in the gardens of the Loire Valley or some gardens where they are constantly moving plants in and out to reflect JUST what is in bloom. But there still a TON of beauty to be found here. Factor in that it is a tranquil break from the lines and hordes of tourists next door and it is worth the cost of admission for the respite and beauty.
