“Great to stay in for exploring”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

I stayed here just for one night with a group of friends. It was really close to a metro stop, and only a 5 min walk from Puerta del Sol. The hostel is surrounded by tapas and nightlife. Our room was clean, and I slept completely fine on the beds. There was also a free sangria and beer hour, and free simple breakfast. Overall it was a great place to stay for the night!

I stayed in a 4bed dorm with shared bathroom (down the other end of the corridor) - the bathroom/shower block is never dirty but feels like it's seen some traffic each day - also quite small with only 3 showers and 3 toilets for the girls and same for the guys each floor - not much hanging space for towel/clothes/getting changed if that comfort is important to you . on the up side some dorms have ensuite.
Great location on a pretty bustling street with lots of bars, plaza restaurants and even a jazz club just across the road, so if you dont plan to keep Madrid hours, you might find the streetside rooms a bit noisy. Tradeoff is to have one of the rooms on the inside with 'windows' into the corridor.
Breakfast is pretty basic - continuous flow of juice, coffee, toast cornflakes but it's enough.
My main complaint is the common areas aren't really the most comfortable places to hang out- just a bit of dark gloomy patio en route to the kitchen. the WiFi is variable with access only in the lobby. Also relatively small kitchen - dont expect to find much room in the fridge for your stuff.

But none of these are dealbreakers. I've been in hostels with a more friendly social vibe- here really depends on the people around, but in terms of the main - clean, safe, good spot to see the city - no complaints

The location of the hostel is great. Right in the center! The atmosphere is also nice. But the cleanliness is a big fail. The service varies much: The staff at the reception were nice and somewhat attentive but the cleaning staff would enter your room with out asking and wont even answer you or leave if tell em to go away. My room was for 4 people and it did not have a single window also the total room area was about 6 m2. Hot water was not certain: you could be having a lukewarm shower and then COLD. Wi-Fi only on the lobby.

Room Tip: At least ask for a window in the room!!!!

If you're just seeking for a no frills hostel in Madrid, this could be an option.

It's near to Aston Martin metro, quick check in, rooms are decent for sleeping, security is sufficient and they provide big lockers for your stuff. I can stuff my full 60 liter back pack in it.

It could do more with a faster elevator and more toilets. I didn't really see the kitchen as I just stayed for a night before my flight.

Staff are friendly and helpful.
