“Great Stay”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

My Wife and I stayed here for a week. The best thing about this hotel is it is central to everything. We walked to every attraction, no underground or taxis. We were able to walk back in the afternoons for a siesta which is something that you cannot do if you stay in a hotel further out.
The hotel itself was beautiful. The hotel is easy to get to from the airport: either get a taxi for 30 euros or get the underground to Sevilla and walk.
Friendly staff, great service.
We did not eat here so cannot comment on that.
The rooftop balcony is lovely in the evenings to have a drink on.
I would advise this hotel for a city break or a romantic weekend.
The only glitch was a noisy American in the corridor on the last night of our stay. That wasn't the fault of the hotel just the fault of a man who had likely had too much sangria.

I generally stay at two other hotels in Madrid but had walked past the Urban several times and thought it looked like a pretty chic hotel. Very centrally located for the Puerta del Sol area and access to all of Madrid's lovely narrow cobblestoned backstreets and alleys. Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance - La Cabana is a wonderful Argentinian steakhouse and very good value for money and only a few paces away. The hotel is very modern, lots of dark granite and glass, nice touch of museum exhibit pieces scattered about the hotel lobby and hotel. Did not try the restaurant or bar. I found the room a little small considering I had a suite and the room was no larger than a regular room in another hotel. The room had wood floors which was a nice touch, nicely appointed bathrooms, well placed electric sockets. Only caution is that while the shower is a good size and has a rainfall shower head, the shower floor is a little slippery - they should provide a rubber mat or something similar. The other small issue I had was that I found the bed to be very hard - some people like a firmer bed but this was a little too firm for my tastes. Service was very prompt and friendly. While I still prefer my regular hotels I would consider coming back to the Urban as it was a pleasant stay.

The is a very nice hotel with suprisingly reasonable rates for the quality.
The hotel is trendy and has a lively feel without being over the top. It quirky decoration is comfortable as well as good to look at. The fragrance in the hallways is really lovely.

We did not have breakfast as at 23 euros it was a bit pricy but found a lovely bakery about 6 does down towards Place de Sol and Starbucks coffee at the bottom of the hill in the other direction.

We went mid week so were looking for a hotel that was not full of business travellers and this was ideal. Apart from checking out the city on the open top bus tour we were able to walk to all of the main tourist attractions from the hotel.

Our standard double room was comfortable with a good bed, small sofa and well equipped bathroom. Some of the fixtures were beginning to look a little jaded but nothing that was a problem and i think this is reflected in the price. Everything is clean and works well. There is a separate shower as well as a shower over the bath and the towels are of very generous proportions.

On the top floor there is a lovely terrace area with a small pool a few sun lounges and plenty of tables and chairs. They serve food and drink up there (I had a really good smoked salmon club stile sandwich). There is also more formal dining on the ground floor which we did not try but heard good things about.

The free glass of champaign that you get as a voucher to redeem in the ground floor bar or the roof terrace is also a nice touch

All in all a througherly enjoyable stay

The location of the Urban Hotel Madrid could not be more perfect. Virtually every sight in the city is within relatively easy walking distance. The hotel has a sleek, modern look, and the tasteful, interesting artwork enhances the stunning decor. The extremely comfortable room in which we stayed had plenty of storage space, something almost always lacking in urban hotels. The breakfast, served in a beautiful room, offered a wide variety of fresh, delicious choices. Last but not least, the service was courteous and especially helpful to us as Madrid first-timers.

Room Tip: We had a room on the upper floor, which came with a skylight containing remote control shades.

Definitely one of the best hotels in Madrid. The indoor design is stunning and very special, the area of the hotel and the friendly staff make you feel very comfortable. Especially the doorman remembered perfectly the hotel guests he was very kind and always ready to help you. The room was decorated in the same great modern style, the mix of colours and light was just perfect!
Really lovely stay. I wouldn´t hesitate to come back!

Gracias a todo el equipo del hotel por una estadía tan linda!

My wife and I just spent a week there. It was a great hotel. The location was great as it was located close to everything. What made this hotel amazing was its service. The entire staff was excellent. In particular, Mr. Jose Corredor was absolutely amazing. He treated us so well. He made sure that everything we wanted was provided, recommended restaurants and made reservations for us when they were hard to come by and introduced us to other stores and its staff. Thanks Jose for making our stay even more special!

I've visited Madrid a few times and mostly stayed nearer to the top of Gran Via but as I was visiting with several friends we all booked into the Urban; you won't be disappointed. Great location - close to Sol left out of hotel; but actually Gran via itself is only 5 mins across the road too.
Friendly reception and check in was quick - I had a "duplex" room on the 5th floor which was nicely laid out - the mezzanine turned out to be a bit more of a gimmick for me as I never really got to spend any time up there but it was a busy few days - I can see how it would be a great addition for some visitors.
It's hard to find something formative to say because the Urban does everything really well - I guess the only annoyance across the whole time was a fairly weak shower during peak-usage time - really low water pressure, but outside of peak was fine.
There are some nice touches in the room such as water, a romantic rose :-), sweets, etc.
The roof-top bar is nice - bizarrely closes at 8pm which on the one hand I can understand as it's not true summer season but it was as a good as summer weather and light wise so that was another slight inconvenience, but the bar in the lobby is a good spot too (before you venture out :-))
The hotel had a real mix of clientele - young, old, couples, families, business, etc. so caters well for all.
If you have a few days in Madrid this is a great place to stop.

Room Tip: High floor duplex rooms have great space (upstairs)
