“Great location, great price!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2010

We stayed for 4 nights and found it to be a very good choice. We took the metro from the airport (its a few changes but we had no problems since it's a very good system) and walked from the station to the hostel. It is not all that well signed but there are 2 others in the same building on different floors so look for any hostel signs on the street and I'm sure you'll find it. For the price it is a fantastic location. We spent very little time in the room and found it more than adequate for our needs. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Although the staff do not speak fluent English, we had no problems communicating with them. They are very accommodating and friendly. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Excellent location, you can walk to Sol in 5-10 minutes. Sevilla metro station is about 5 minutes away. You can catch the train from the airport, and switch lines twice to arrive at Sevilla. You can also walk to the bars in Huertas from the hotel.

Quaint décor, I had a single room with shared bathroom and toilets. All very clean, affordable and comfortable. Older style hotel. No fan or air-conditioning, but a nice breeze through the window. Some toiletries supplied. Hand basin in room.

The only thing I would change is that being on the 3rd floor, the elevator will only take you from bottom up. I have no problems walking down, but when I left at 5am, I had to carry luggage down 3 flights. I got a bargain on a last minute website however, which made this great value for money.

It took me 1 hour door-to-door from catching the train at the airport to arriving at the hotel, which was great.

Stayed here for 7 nights and this was absolutely perfect. The room was exceptionally clean and had all the basic necessities including a sink and a good mirror. Towels were provided and there was a daily cleaning service as well. The bed was very decent and I rested well. The hotel is very centrally located however it is a bit difficult to find since it is in an alleyway. From the airport catch Line 8 to Nuevo Ministerios, then Line 10 to Tribunal and then Line 1 to Sol, then Line 2 to Seville and get off there. From Seville it's a less than 10 minute walk to the hotel (lookout for the big Hostel Principado sign as this hostel's sign is very very small and not noticeable). The hostel is on the 3rd floor and you need to use the buzzer to get in.

The bathrooms are EXCEPTIONAL..I mean, I am very picky about these things and it is rare to see restrooms this clean, they literally were shining. The restrooms were never busy at all, I hardly found them occupied and the hot water was good and strong.

Highly recommended!

We had an excellent one night stay at Hostal Mirentxu. The location is great, and the hostal offers excellent value for money. Staff is friendly and professional, and is willing to go the extra mile. The property is clean and well maintained. A decent breakfast is served in a stylish classically furnished dining room for a small fee. We were offered an upgrade to a room with private toilet facing a street that is relatively quiet at night. It has a decent bed. The balcony door block the remaining sound. Noise from inside the building could be a problem, but the common areas were mostly quiet during our stay. The door bell however can be heard throughout the building, in our case waking me up at 8:00.

There is no ventilation in the room besides opening the balcony doors.

The hostal has free wifi. The building has an elevator.

We would probably stay here again on a future trip to Madrid, and would certainly recommend hostal Mirentxu to others.

This hotels location is spot on, a 2 minutes maximum walk from the heart of Madrid's city centre. But the hotel has a feeling of depression about it. It looks boring. If you have had a bad day in Madrid then the thought of going back to this hotel at night will make your day even worse. If you have had a good day in Madrid, then your evening will be ruined when you go back to this depressing hotel. There is the Urbam hotel nearby, stay there!

The staff at Mirentxu went out of their way to help us with everything from tricky keys and missing towels to map reading and language practice. They also stored our luggage after check-out until our evening flight. Mirentxu is centrally located, with an excellent clean and quiet atmosphere. Well worth the price for a double room with shower--the shared bathrooms are spotless, even if they are in the lobby. If you're in room 12, be prepared for noise from breakfast in the morning. Also, the exterior sign can be missed easily--use Street View on Google before you go!

The hotel is centrally situated with sol, prado museum and other attractions just a walk away. Rooms are basic with small breakfast (paid) althogh considering the price, this hotel is excellent value. Staff is excellent. There is a small vegetarian restaraun right besides the hotel which serves excellent food. Hotel is near metro station 'seville'. Although a little difficult to find at first, there is no problem thereafter. Negtive side is, it gets little noisy in night because of passing of stray vehicle. Overall its a great value for money in madrid city where hotel prices are high.
