“PERFECT LOCATION BUT DEPRESSING HOTEL”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2010

This hotels location is spot on, a 2 minutes maximum walk from the heart of Madrid's city centre. But the hotel has a feeling of depression about it. It looks boring. If you have had a bad day in Madrid then the thought of going back to this hotel at night will make your day even worse. If you have had a good day in Madrid, then your evening will be ruined when you go back to this depressing hotel. There is the Urbam hotel nearby, stay there!

The staff at Mirentxu went out of their way to help us with everything from tricky keys and missing towels to map reading and language practice. They also stored our luggage after check-out until our evening flight. Mirentxu is centrally located, with an excellent clean and quiet atmosphere. Well worth the price for a double room with shower--the shared bathrooms are spotless, even if they are in the lobby. If you're in room 12, be prepared for noise from breakfast in the morning. Also, the exterior sign can be missed easily--use Street View on Google before you go!

The hotel is centrally situated with sol, prado museum and other attractions just a walk away. Rooms are basic with small breakfast (paid) althogh considering the price, this hotel is excellent value. Staff is excellent. There is a small vegetarian restaraun right besides the hotel which serves excellent food. Hotel is near metro station 'seville'. Although a little difficult to find at first, there is no problem thereafter. Negtive side is, it gets little noisy in night because of passing of stray vehicle. Overall its a great value for money in madrid city where hotel prices are high.

Hostal in the centre of Madrid - the location is perfect. We stayed there twice, once we hade a private bathroom and a window to the street, once a room with a shower and no toilett and a window to the yard - it was wery noisy(there is a restaurant). It can be extremly hot in the summer, because there is no air condition, but if you are going to visit Madrid and just sleep in the hotel, it´s a perfect choise.

The location is fantastic (walking distance to all the major art galleries) and the price is good. My room was very basic but the bed was ok. Be aware though, that the hostel is exceptionally noisy and that you can hear everything in the halls and the room next door. I was woken up in the night by the woman in the room next to me, yelling on her mobile phone at 4.30am, and I was wearing industrial strength earplugs at the time. That said, it was worth the noise hassle given how great the location and price were.

Great Price, very clean rooms & comfortables beds, tv in room some with full bathroom. We had a full bathroom. CLOSE TO EVERYTHING!. One euro will take you by metro to the downtown Seville stop and the hotel is a short block and a half walk. (The Metro runs from 6am until 1.30am. So plan your flight. A taxi will cost 40 to 50 euro's. The hotel has no large sign so look for number 7 and the small hotel sign on the wall. It has an elevator to the third floor so no problemto get to. The staff is helpfull and friendly they speak limted english but enough to assist you for any reasonable request. They serve a breakfast for 3.50 that consists of tea, coffee, toast and assorted cakes. A bargain for Madrid. They are behind the Spanish Parliment on days when it is open to the public you just walk across the street. All the major sights of central madrid are no more than a easy 20 minute walk. The Zarzuela (Madrid's light opera) is around the corner about 500 feet from the Hotel. The Thyssen Museum is on the corner about 1000 feet. The Prado, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Ana , and the navel museun is about a 10 minute walk. Retro park & Plaza Mayor are about 15 minutes and the Royal Palace, El Rastro, Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the National Archaelogical Museum are aboout 20 minutes. I'm in my 60's so a young person might get there faster but walking around Madrid is part of the fun. My wife is handicapped so for a few places we took a taxi the largest fare was 5 euros. I would use this hotel again, I doubt you can get a better price for a clean comfortable room so close to all the major sights of Madrid.

After finally figuring out where the hotel was we were greeted by an older lady who spoke no English at all. This was no problem- with my rudimentary Spanish and some hand gestures we were ok. The set-up of the room was odd with a double bed in one room and a single in another that joined it, but as the woman said "muy grande". The room was clean, functional, comfortable and the location of the Hostal is amazing. walking distance to the best Tapas in La Latina, to dancing in Chueca and to the museums nearby.
