“Location matters...!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We visited Madrid during Easter, stayed 4 nights there.

++++ Positive
- location is excellent close to restaurants, bars, sites, shopping, supermarkets, TAXIs and metro.
- Wi-fi signal was perfect, we stayed in 1st floor.
- the staff was helpful in general (some of them looked bored though)
- we did not have a single issue/ problem there
- breakfast was ok, a variety to choose
- room size was average.

---- Negative
- some strange smell in the room
- the WC door! Glass door that does NOT seal 100% when it closes as it's open from both "ends".
- brekfast room was small and can get "busy"
- the maid probable made a prank after cleaning and had the air-condition temperature on 30 C (outside was 12 - 15 C). We woke up in the middle of the night to realize that we couldn't breathe and switched it off.
- room and bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but no major issues.
- it could get noisy from the street especially if you stay in lower floors you will feel it.

Would definitely stay there again due to the location, however we might like to explore some other hotel next time. Be sure to book a hotel near "Sol" and "Plaza Mayor, that's the city center.

Room Tip: Lower floors for good wi-fi signal, higher floors for less street noise.

In addition to being a modern hotel, right in the centre of Madrid, the front desk staff are most helpful. This is especially true of Arturo who went above and beyond the call of duty to help us in every way, from providing directions to explaining the Metro, to printing our boarding passes, loaning us power adapters and corkscrew. Arturo's English is quite good and there was nothing beyond his ability to explain in English. Our room was fantastic, a "superior" room on the seventh floor, with no bothersome sounds from outside. We highly recommend this hotel. It is only a five minute walk from the Airport Express bus stop and a one minute walk to the Metro. Thank you Arturo and Hotel Quatro Puerto del Sol for a fantastic Madrid experience. Scott & Liz

Room Tip: Room 702 has a Jacuzzi

The hotel is exceptionally located, very easy to get around. Everything is nearby: restaurants, pharmacies, shopping and sites. And yet there isn't a big price attached to the room for such a centrally located and charming hotel. I had a standard double room, just perfect for a solo traveler but a full size, roomy bathroom which was a nice surprise. The bed was comfy enough. The free wifi was also welcome. The only thing missing was an in room coffee/tea pot. I like a hot cup of tea at night. I thought the front staff were particularly friendly and helpful and weren't offended by my fractured attempts to use my limited Spanish.

Room Tip: I have a room away from the front. There's still a little noise at night but I always travel wit...

Loved our hotel just a few minutes from Puerto del sol, plaza Mayor and other sights in central Madrid. Metro is one minute from the hotel, with many bars shops and restaurants close by. Very clean and comfortable. Good value for the money. Super helpful and friendly staff. Would stay here again

There is no question that this hotel has an excellent location in the heart of Madrid.
The staff were ok, the hotel facilities are limited, but this is a city hotel and location was more important to me.
I got room 102, and although I could not complain about the street noise I was not too happy about the noise coming from the rooms either on the same floor or on the floor above, more specifically high heel shoes on the wooden floors.
My room was ok but not cleaned properly; The bed was quite comfortable though.
Overall I am satisfied that I paid a reduced price as I would not have been happy if I had paid the full price.

I agree with other recent reviews that this hotel is very central and easy walking distance to all the major sightseeing in Madrid. Our room was clean, modern and quiet...we had room 704 so had no problem with the street noise that many people complain about when staying in Madrid. We got a very good deal with the hotel through booking.com and would have no hesitation to recommend the hotel and stay here again when visiting Madrid again. The hotel is very close to Sevilla metro so very easy to get from the airport. Staff were also efficient and helpful...thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the back of hotel and not on the main street
