The hotel is located near Plaza Mayor, Puerta de Sol and 2 metro stops. It's an ideal location. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the staff "Outstanding". If you decide to stay here suggest you get room with breakfast - the breakfast is great. The folks in reception, restaurant, bar are more then willing to help you. My only problem that I had with the hotel is that the
Business Center does not have a printer, therefore you must forward item to be printed to the front desk and this can turn into a nightmare (staff will help you). Highly recommend they get a printer for the business center. (Hotels that I have stayed at all have printers). My next issue is the fact that there is no coffee in your room - of course every corner has a bar/coffee shop; however, at 6:00 am who wants to get dressed and go find a bar/coffee shop. Breakfast room opens at 7:00 am; however, us early birds are up at 5-6:00 am. Recommend coffee be made available to early risers and for those scheduled for early flights in the reception area. I would have given them 4.5 stars if it wasn't for the availability of a printer and coffee in reception. Ganivet - thank you for the wonderful stay and folks don't hesitate to book this hotel.

Room Tip: My room was next to the street - I had no issues with noise. Guess any room would do.

We spent two nights at the Ganivet Hotel at the end of our mini Spanish adventure and we have no qualms about staying there at all. The location is excellent, just by the Puerta De Toleda Metro station and in a buzzing, very Spanishy district of Madrid that we lovel very much. The hotel itself is very well-furnished, clean and modern. Perhaps a bit of character is lacking compared to other hotels but you're left wanting for nothing. The hotel has its own bar and cafeteria, plus the breakfast (cost of 10 euros) is worth the money and actually good value.

Overall, we were very happy, comfortable and safe.

Stayed here for four nights on city break in Madrid. Clean, well kept hotel about 10-15 minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor and half and hour or so to Atocha railway station and the main museums/galleries (Prado, Reina Sophia etc). Apart from walking to the station down a very busy major road all quite pleasant walks if you navigate your way round the back streets. Also an easy walk to an area where there are many restaurants and to the Mercado San Miguel which I found great for an early evening drink/tapas. I never tried public transport as I think you see far more of a city when on foot.

Good if standard buffet breakfast. They also do an evening buffet - OK but not great (I only used it once when I couldn't be bother to go out again after a day in Toledo).

Helpful if not the most smiling front desk staff.

All in all I would use it again should I find myself in Madrid once more.

Difficult to comment on value for money as I paid an overall figure for flight + hotel and one or two odd "extras" so I have no real idea of how much of this went to the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front MAY be a bit noisy as it is on a busy main road - although as my room was at the...

We stayed here for my 50th birthday , as we had tickets for the madrid game . The hotel is about 10 mins walk to the square and 5 minute walk to the metro. We found the hotel staff very helpful . We had a triple room and found it to be adequate for our needs .

Stayed her with my daughter during our vacation. The room was small but clean. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful (except for the blonde at the front desk). The location was good; easy access to the Metro and shopping. The breakfast was, hands down, the best thing about the hotel. The food was fresh and plenty. The Japanese Restaurant next door was pretty good too. If you stay at this hotel, you MUST go across the street to the shop that sells, "La Famoran - Jose Jimenez" chips. We ate an entire bag every day (and brought 3 bags home)!

Just come back from four days in Madrid and we found this was ideal for sightseeing. It is failry close to the Metro (La Latina) and for restaurants and bars. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the breakfast set you up for the day. You can eat at night here too if you don't want to go out. Great for group travelling as it gives you a good meeting place and you can eat together

Room Tip: Try to book a room off the main road as it gets busy
