“Come for the negroni, stay for the boquerones”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

The negronis here are spectacularly potent. The first one I ever had was overpowering, but I have come to enjoy the mix of vermouth (from a tap!), gin, a splash of soda and a dash of campari. While I am not usually a fan, the boquerones in vinegar are amazing. Deliciously fresh and firm anchovies in a delicious vinegar. Pop one on top of a crunchy potato chip and you are golden!

Oh, and the bar itself is a very cool, historic location that has been in the family for a few generations. I highly recommend this place.

“Boquerones, vermut, and albondigas”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

A family-run bar that's been around for awhile. The wine selection is quite good, fantastic for Madrid. There is always something interesting outside of the normal list that goes far beyond your normal 'ribera or rioja?' style wine list that dominates the city. They pour an atomic negroni. The tapas/raciones are fantastic. Get those in the title of the review.

This place has no business being as good as it is with its location. We are all lucky that such an authentic and delicious bar exists right dead-center in tourist-Madrid. Go.

“Amazing place - don't miss!!”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

This has been a fantastic tapas experience for us. The restaurant owner is awesome, he has the patience to listen to you and suggest the best dishes suitable to your tastes/liking. The cecina tapas is the best over here - don't miss miss this gem of a place! I've also heard that most of the popular tapas bar hopping tours start their hop from this place, go figure..!

More a place for a nice glass of wine, than to have dinner. Shouldn't be missed if you visit Madrid!

“A Fantastic Hole In The Wall”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

This was the second stop on the Madrid Food and History Tour. It is a family run Tapas Bar. The food was excellent and home made. Small and cozy it is a great place to nibble before or after dinner.
