The room contains a decent sized mini fridge that is nice for keeping drinks in. We stayed in a triple room and found there was a distinct lack of plugs, so I reccomend that you bring an extenision cable. The breakfast everyday is a white crusty bread roll and an orange glazed crossiant. With an option of cornflakes, tea, coffee, nesquick, water and orange juice. So it is pretty basic all though not bad for four euros. The hotel has a nice large lounge area which is nice for working in. Not the best internet connection although works well in lounge. Excellent location, right next door to the reina sophia and not far from a metro station. The hotel is rather clean, although I was rather anoid when I placed the do not disturb sign on door and the room was cleaned. The front desk speak english but the cleaners and breakfast staff do not. Every room contains a safe although it is tricky to operate, This hotel is frequently used by schools for school trips so be warned there are a lot of teenagers. When we went there were three schools there.

Room Tip: there are two lifts in the hotel so it does not matter what floor you are on.

I did't stay because I found the another budget and good hotel nearby, eventhough reception guy told me i could be back and stay after one hour looking for the other hotels. The room he showed me was neat , clean and furnished with fridge and bath-tub.Room rate was about €100 for double. The hotel is located near Atocha station and a stone away( maybe 10 minutes) from Sofia and Prada museum. What an ideal place ! Hotel staffers were kind and caring. I'd like to stay next time for sure.

Stayed here with a tour group so not a personal choice.

Reasons to stay:
Easy walking distance to railway station, art galleries, and parks. Very reasonable prices. Very helpful reception staff. There is a small fridge in rooms, together with a safe.

Meeting expectations:
Beds and pillows are comfortable. Rooms have the basic essentials and are clean - ours did not have a rubbish bin though. It does seem as if there are rooms of various qulity, so check what you are getting/want when you register - some have views, some overlook the busy road at the front - but also have balconies and are not noisy with the window shut. Others are small with windows overlooking a central area. Others yet are still in the process of being refurbished.

Poor
Breakfast is a plate with a bread roll and a sweet roll - some indifferent coffee and orange juice, and some cereal. You may be asked to go to breakfast at a certain time. Personally, I'd skip this altogether and go for breakfast in one of the many surrounding cafes - or at the station.

Lift's are small, which could be a problem if you are on the sixth floor and it is a busy time.

It is a reasonable walk to the main shopping districts, so not so easy with children or those who find walking difficult. You would need to use the nearby metro, bus or taxi.

There are no evening meals or beverages served and no drink facilities in the rooms. However, cafes and restaurants are all around the surrounding area.

Room Tip: Go and look at a couple before you choose. Be specific about what you want.

I booked this hotel in Madrid mainly for its excellent location. We spent 2 nights here. It's just 3min easy walk from airport bus station (last stop-Atocha Renfe), 20meter away from Atocha metro station, 2min walk from Atocha Renfe station. What's more, Sonia Reina mesume is just at the back of this hotel. Prado mesuem shall be less than 10min walk also. I choose this place as my first 2days in Madrid is visiting Segovia and Toledo. Room itself is true 2star hotel with minimal equipment and quite small. However, the bathroom is spacious (compared to room esp). WIFI is free and stable. Service/staff is mixed view. When I arrived in the early morning from a overnight flight, i can't check in the room (as expected) but save my luggage in conceignee but they do not give me any receipt of luggage keeping. Also i have to keep key at reception everytime i leave hotel. All staff are very slow in processing check in (typing speed is horrible) so that i need wait long for check in. However, the security guy is really helpful and direct me to a fantastic supermarket nearby (near Sonia, just 5min walk). There are quite a few restaurants nearby but all not cheap nor delicious.

We stayed for 5 nights.
This large hotel is on a busy junction, very close to the major art galleries and to the Atocha train, metro and bus stations. There are also two lovely parks close by, the Retiro, and the Botanical Gardens, both of which are good to relax in after a day's sightseeing. The hotel's location is perfect for tourism and it is easy to find.
The reception staff were welcoming, helpful, efficient and spoke some English. When we checked in we asked for a quiet room and got room 108. This was not large, but was comfortable, well decorated and clean. There was no view from the window, which we had been told about and had agreed to when we requested a quiet room - but we didn't intend to be in the room other than for sleeping. The room had a wardrobe, wall safe and small fridge. The bathroom was good, with a powerful shower. The lift was near, and the restaurant for breakfast was on our floor. The room was cleaned and serviced avery day
There were a couple of matters that we raised with the reception staff – a problem with safe and a light not working – the staff were competent and resolved them.
Breakfast was a large fresh bread and bun or croisant with butter, jam or cheese spread. Cereals and fruit juice were available. Coffee was standard and tea could be requested. There was a toaster available. Sometimes the breakfast room was busy, but the staff were efficient and hard-working and coped well.
The wi-fi was free and signal strength was good, and reception staff assisted us to access it.
The hotel does not have restaurant as such but there are lots of cafes and eating places nearby.
El Brillante is a large cafe and restaurant about 10 metres from the hotel front entrance. Its customers are mainly locals and the food range seems huge, with pictures of much on offer displayed. It is not expensive, service is very prompt and if you eat inside rather than on the terrace it is cheaper. The staff are very attentive and helpful, pleasant and good humored. There is an English menu if you ask. After trying other places, we found that El Brillante surpassed the others.

Room Tip: Front of hotel is on busy road junction Interior rooms are quiet.

I stayed at Hotel Mediodia during a backpacking trip in September 2012. The hotel is very close to Atocha station and is indeed visable from the main exit. The front desk staff were very friendly and the rooms comfortable and functional without being plush. It was about a 20 minute walk (Or three stops on the metro) into the centre of Madrid. I'd recommend catching the train in and walking back as it's downhill.

The hotel is very close to the Reina Sofia art gallery and an easy walk to the Prada. There is a square behind the hotel that has various bars and restaurants. The best restaurant is right next to the hotel, El Brilliante definitely lives up to its name. I had a fantastic Calamari Bocadillo (hot baguette).

The hotel is right across the street from the train and bus stations. Very easy to find food and drinks. The rooms are cheap but they are perfect for crashing on a backpacking trip. Big bathrooms. Small TV. In room fridge. Two guys working at the front desk were super friendly.

Not the most romantic place to take a girl but perfect for passing out for a few hours.

Room Tip: Get a balcony facing the train station.
