This hotel is cheap.... But you get what you pay for! The room was very basic with iron beds and hard mattress. There is no aircon and our room was hot and stuffy (in late September, can't imagine what it would be like in summer!). Opening the window was not an option as the rooms face over as busy square with restaurants and traffic so incredibly noisy. I have never seen a bathroom so small. The wifi did not work in the room (although the owner insisted it did!), but we could access emails in the lobby area. If you are after basic accommodation and a bargain ok, however I could not recommend if you like your home comforts .

The rooms are very tiny and the bathrooms are not much bigger. We had two suitcases and you couldn't put them both down at the same time. The streets a very noise all night and the walls are paper thin so we could here next doors tv until 2am.

The staff are not friendly and not very helpful. One of the metro lines was under going maintenance and they had no idea how to get to the places we needed to go as a result. They had no metro maps available. When we asked how to get to Grand Via station we were told to turn right outside of the hotel, when in fact it was left. Even simple instructions seemed too difficult.

The wifi is very bad. It took ages for anything to load which pretty much meant it was pointless using it as I didn't have the time to wait around.

You have to pay to use your room safe everytime you open and close it. Which is a bit ridiculous. Further, for your own 'safety' you have to leave the key at reception - as a result we locked our bags at all times.

I would definelty not recommend this hostal to anybody and would not be staying here again. The only positive thing I have to say about the hostal is that it is in a very good location - walking distance to the Palace, Sol, Cava Baja, etc.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Staff is quite helpful. Hotel is very central 5 minutes walk from the Gran Via Metro station. Very near to all main attractions and in between the Royal Palace and the Bank of Spain. The room (320) was small and very basic, however has a toilet with shower, air conditioning and TV with radio channels. If staying in Madrid for a short period of time, this place is good value for money as you just go there to sleep. It could be classified as a 2** hotel rather than 3***.

The rooms facing the back courtyard are not noisy. The only bit of noise is when people try to leave the hotel early in the morning.

Room Tip: The room faced the back courtyard (where they hang the towels to dry) so it was not noisy.

This hotel has everything you need for a few days in Madrid, lovely clean rooms and good service. It can be a little noisy next to the lift, especially with people leaving at 5am but other than that no complaints

Room Tip: Ask for a little balcony

Dear All,

we have been in San Lorenzo for 3 nights: great location, really close to the Plaza de la Puerta del Sol. From the Airport, achieve the Hotel takes less than 40 minutes by Metro. Nice room, quite clean. The reception staff is really helpful and polite. Despite the traffic on the Gran Via we never had problems in terms of noise: the hotel is in a small parallel road that ensures calm nights.

In this hotel you can have also the breakfast, if you want: it's not necessary to pay in advance, that makes your trip more flexible also by this point of view.

One small weaknes : the room was not very enlightened, in fact there were just 2 abat-jour.

I would warmly suggest that hotel for young or not young couples, groups of friends as well family.

Room Tip: If you want to see outside ask for it: some rooms have the windows on the inner garden where the sta...

A very convenient place to stay in the heart of Madrid. Room was small but had a full bath with small tub and was just afine for a single person spending modt of the day outside visiting museums and sightseeing. At night, room was surprisingly quiet despite being a few meters from the Gran Via, where you find people at any time of night. Overall a great bargain.
