“Great location, average room”

The hotel is located just in the middle of gran via, close to all major shops and 2 subway stations.
It's walking distance from plaza espania, the royal palace, sol square, and many bars and restaurants.
The room is just okay. There aren't many double beds. The rooms is clean, but the toilets are a bit smelly, and there is no ventilation. Tv is small. No mini bar. The recepionists are nice and helpful. The reception hall is located in -1 - you have to go down in order to take the small eleavators up...
Another good thing is the free wifi in the room. Very helpful!

In the weekend of oct 13 2012 stayed two nights in room 701with my wife. The hotel is in the midst of a refurbing process for the outside, however on a closer look you will expect also the inside to be handled as well.. But never the less the room was clean ( only one shabby chair ) beds were OK. WIFI didnot work in the hotel and staff did not know ( or was not willing to) what to do. Value for money I would say barely. Owners please speed up your refurbishing job!

The room is big and has a good bed.
The breakfast was also very good.
the bathroom was small and old but everything worked good.
They where working at the hotel but it did not disturbe our stay.

Hotel situated in the heart of the city - 100m from Callao place, 200m from Plaza del Sol. Walking distance to Plaza de Espana, the Royal Castle or Colon.
Good size of rooms and bathrooms and sufficient space in the closet.
Outside renovations are still taking place, but not very noisy or distracting.
Normal breakfast with choices of cold meats, cheese, not warm - a couple of spoons of scrambled eggs.
The elevators are indeed small, but apart the mornings when they are really packed there was no big inconvenience.
Wifi is working good in the rooms.

I normally try to be positive although it is difficult here.
The lifts are totally inadequate, and you have to use them to get to and from reception - and therefore the street.
The bathroom was too small even for me. I had to sit sideways on the toilet because there was not enough room for my knees, also there was a vent between the toilet and the bidet,(presumably for the sewage because there were some awful smells in the bathroom at times). The tiles needed resealing and the door only just opened past the towel rail attached to the sink. The bedroom was spacious enough although very plainly decorated. The bed was less than comfortable, but despite that I did get a decent nights sleep.
No view except of the building opposite through scaffolding netting. But this is right in the middle of a busy city, so no complaints there.
No tea or coffee making facility in the room. There was a machine in reception.
The breakfast room was OK, but the decor made it functional instead of inviting. Breakfast was OK but exactly the same on all 3 days. They kept running out of coffee. There were only about 7 or 8 little pots (3 cups each) for the whole dining room which I guess could seat over 50 people.
There is no restaurant, only the breakfast room. There is also no bar, but there are plenty of places to eat and drink within a short walking distance of the hotel. And Madrid prices are quite reasonable for a major European capital.
My wife booked this before I could check on TA otherwise I would not have gone. However, if -like me- you try to make the best of things, so as not to ruin your visit, then just bear in mind that you would probably have to pay quite a lot more for a quality hotel in this very prime location. This place needs some work to bring it up to standard but expect to pay a lot when that day comes.

Good location and it is easy to access by Metro. The room is clean and spacious with FREE internet access. The breakfast is delicious with lots of varieties to choose! The staff in the cafe is very nice and helpful. However, the shortcoming is that you have to get several stairs down to the reception with your bulky luggage!
