“Best bargain for the price and a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

We were skeptical upon arrival, because the location, while central, is in a rather poor area. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the room, which was good sized, very clean, and with a large modern bathroom which offered, in addition to the usual shampoo and hand cream, both a travel shave kit and a dental kit. The staff are very helpful. Plaza Major and the Royal palace are very close, and we walked there and elsewhere from the hotel - the Prado museum, Reina Sofia Museum, Retiro Gardens, all were easily walkable. We will definitely stay there next time we are in Madrid.

Had a great experience at this hotel. Staff were very friendly. It was in a really central location, close to Sol. Would recommend this hotel to others. It is really what you pay for. Other reviews are really good to go on. Wish we had breakfast - but it wasn't included in our rate. Not the Hilton but definitely a good bet if you're on a budget.

It was my second visit to this hotel and it was perfect for me again. The location is the best you can have for this price in Madrid. Only one street from Puerta del Sol. Breakfast OK but no salad, only tomatoes. Staff very friendly, but I can speak Spanish.
You can hear the noise from the other rooms but after a few glases of red wine in the neighbourhood, a good sleep was no problem.
Hope to return in 2013.

A friend recomended it to me and I just stayed there for 2 nights. It is near all sites and you can walk everywhere, it's fantastic, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was big and comfortable, as well as the bed. I will definitely stay there again!

City Centre hotel not ar from Sol Metro station. Clean tidy, good breakfast, clean rooms, helpful staff on reception with good english, even able to understand my appalling spanish. Not located in a very beautiful position but lots of Police about as always in Madrid city centre and a safe feeling.

I booked this hotel after thoroughly reading reviews on tripadvisor and getting a good deal at booking.com. I think the reviews are pretty accurate. The location is good, a close walk to most all the sites in central Madrid. It's also a few blocks from a metro stop, close enough to carry your bags. Right around the corner is kind of sketchy- there is a theater with some kind of bondage show and lots of posters of half dressed men and women, which might be interesting if you have kids! I never felt scared though. We stayed here in November which I gather is Madrid's quiet month. I asked for a quiet room and they upgraded us to a junior suite. The room we had (416) was actually quite small, though this is typical for European cities. The bathroom was huge, with both a shower, tub and separate toilet, but the bedroom and sitting room were tight. It seemed like the room had been recently renovated. There was some new modern furniture and laminate hardwood flooring, but the British colonial couch, paintings, lamps, etc... were still there too. A bit of a mismatch, but not a big deal. The bed was a typical European. It's like what you slept on when you were 10: the cheapest mattress your parents could find. The sheets and blankets are boring and only two pillows. The towels in the room though were fantastic- large and fluffy.

Room Tip: The doors are thin- you might want to ask for a room towards the back where less people will be walk...
