From Plaza de Espana all the way to Edificio Metropolis, this major route is a spectacle of magnificent architecture, traffic and people milling about, tourists and locals alike. It is a busy street, full of restaurants and shops, office buildings and hotels, all tall, monumental, and well maintained.

If you love to shop, this is the place for you. There are plenty of international brands offering their wares along Gran Via. However, if you appreciate fine European architecture, this street will not disappoint. So many incredible buildings. Many feature huge sculptures that adorn the rooftops. If you’re hungry, there are more restaurants than you can shake a stick at - more on the side streets just off Gran Via. Public transport is easily accessible with at least two metro stops. Note, the streets can get crowded - keep an eye on your personal belongings.

Whether to the Plaza de Espana or to the Retiro I always feel I have arrived in Madrid when I stroll down Gran Via.

Well worth the walk from Bacs de espana to Plaza de espana. The buildings outdoing each other for there ornateness and many had statues on the roof.
