“ELEGANT STREET”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

GRAN VIA is one of the most important and elegant streets in MADRID,it splits the city from east to west between PLAZA ESPANIA to PLAZA CIBELES with its beautiful fountain of cibeles. The street is full on both sides of nice shops, restaurants and theaters of variable levels. One of the most noticeable thing is the distinguished beautiful architecture of almost all the buildings along the street. In my opinion it surpasses all other european cities I ever seen.
Do yourself a favour and enjoy a nice stroll in this viable street.

“One of the main streets in Madrid”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

When you visit Madrid, you will most likely walk down Gran Via at one point of another. It is filled with restaurants, cafes, shops and everything else you could possibly want to find. It's a central street so don't miss it.

“Just alright...”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We walked almost the whole way from east to the west point of Gran Via. It was a good walk. Started promising with the impressive Banco de Espana and the Metropolis Building.

There's the usual fashion and clothing stores around and food options (of course also all the typical fast food chains). Then there's some malls and theaters. That's all fine, but other major cities have similar boulevards...and I like them better (like 5th Ave or even Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona).
Of course, there's lots of nice architecture to look at, but the Gran Via is - especially on the east end - a bit on the way down. Lots of shops and bars were closed....for good. And the busy traffic doesn't add to its charm.

It's an ok walk, but not that impressive. We've seen better.

“Bustling road”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Very busy road, likes Oxford Street. Lots of shops, restaurants (of the tourist rip-off variety) and hotels. The architecture is quite nice though, as is the energy of the place.
