A high-end shopping district in the middle of Madrid. Nothing special. Every city has one. Maybe worth a walk down, but only if you have time.

This is Madrid's "Champs Elisee". Here you can find all the famous Brands in the world and do some good shopping. The prices are not good though.

We walked from Puerta Alcala to Gran Via in the night, just to see the Metropolis building. Gran Via seemed like a border between the whole ancient versus the modern areas of Madrid. It seemed to be a happening street, even close to midnight.

This being one of the main streets in Madrid, it was really busy. I didnt come to Madrid for the shopping but I can imagine this is a place to go. Having said that, there were still some realy interesting buildings from architectional point of view and this is definitely a street you should visit when you are in Madrid.

If you like shopping this is the main street for it. More or less the Oxford Street of Madrid. It is also the centre of entertainment with cinemas, theatres and bars and restaurants. There is some nice architecture every so often. Gran Via can get very busy so keep an eye on your bag/wallet. There are many small streets going off from it that you can explore too, Just be careful of Calle Montera as it is full of prostitutes!
