After walking around Madrid for many hours in the blazing heat we thought we would travel on the cable car to the outskirts of Madrid and then back again.

The ride was fun especially as the girlfriend was scared! Some really good views of the city. Once you reach the end there is a cafe where you can purchase food and drinks. There is a balcony which overlooks the cable car route which is quite nice.

Free priority entrance with a Madrid Card to this venue as well as many many more! Worth looking into, can buy 24, 48, 72 hours worth of use.

We thought we were clever buying tickets online so we could fast track the queue. We arrived with all our tickets (showing barcodes) printed out. The guys opening the cars didn't give us priority and after some wait and showing them the reference number on the iPad a woman gave us tickets. Hardly anyone speaks English in Spain, so added confusion!!
The ride really was rather boring with views of the palace in the distance but that is about all. The area directly below is pretty desolate. You get to the other side which is just a car park with a picnic area and a restaurant. Couldn't wait to take the cable car back.......a big waste of a morning in Madrid.

Took the teleferico during the morning so it wasn't too busy. The attraction is a bit difficult to find but its well worth looking for it. During the ride you get great views of the palace and of the city and then you cross over the greenery of the park. Had a drink in the café at the other side then came back. We really enjoyed it and would do it again. Very reasonable price for the return trip.

We felt a bit like kids, taking the cable car in Madrid... It was really enjoyable and surprising, it's more something you'd expect when you go skiing. We passed really close to some buildings, you could look into people's kitchens, that was funny. When we got out we felt we were miles away from Madrid, it was all so green, I guess you could walk for hours and forget about the city. There were beautiful wild flowers everywhere. It's a nice thing to do when you stay for a week or so.

This was a bit difficult to find the entrance is above the rose gardens in parc oeste. However it was worth the time taken to get there. For a reasonable price you get a good view of the city on the 11 minute cable car ride. The ride takes you to caso de campo where you can enjoy a walk or sit on the scenic terrace in the cafe with fantastic views of Madrid. A lovely way to spend a slightly different afternoon.
