From the comments I found on the internet, I expected the worse. In the end, I found myself in a decent youth hostel, quiet and clean and with personnel which was for the majority nice. Breakfast wasn't delicious but ok (we could go for refills). The location is interesting too. I went for a jogging in the nearby parque del oeste (large, nice park), plaza de españa is at 10 minutes walking distance and the airport is at 45 minutes metro distance.
On the down side, the personnel barely speaks anything else than Spanish. The lady that checked us in didn’t speak English. So next to the 30 minutes we had to wait before she showed up, the check-in by itself took more than 35 minutes because we couldn't understand each other. One piece of advice: when you book, make sure you book everything in a single reservation. Since we were three and one of us arrived a day later, I made three separate reservations. Without a common language, the handling of these three separate reservations proved to be almost impossible. I also didn't enjoy waiting for long minutes in front of the door, waiting for someone to open it up for us.
My general evaluation is nonetheless rather positive. I would say it is good but not very good.
