The room is really a studio apartment: there are two single beds which cannot be pushed together because of the shape of the wall they are against; there is a comfortable 2 seater sofa, a table and chairs for 2, and a small kitchen area consisting of a 2 ring hob, a small microwave and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. To use the cutlery and crockery, you need to pay a returnable deposite for the cupboard key, which you would need to ask for upon booking in at reception - it is not automatically mentioned (or wasn't to us, we had to go back down to enquire about it!) TIP: take a small travel kettle, as there is not a kettle there, only a milk pan for boiling water for drinks.
There is a safe in the room, but we did not use it. The hotel is part of a chain, and supplied a shoe horn and shoe cleaner in the wardrobe, and a comb, shower cap and shower gel and soap in the bathroom, all in its' own packaging. The bathroom was standard, with a shower in the bath, but was adequate and clean, with fresh towels every day.
The room was clean, well decorated and airy: but the windows are only singly glazed, so not very soundproof, and the noise of the bins of the private health clinic down the street being emptied by a wagon at 00.30/01.00 am every night was extremely loud and very disturbing. We were there for 7 nights, and disturbed every night by this.
Although there are no tourist attractions close by, the hotel is literally a minute walk from a tube station (Diego De Leon, line 6 or circle line [grey]) on the metro, there is a yellow post box right infront of the station, and 3 supermarkets within easy walk. There is a McDonalds and a Burger King on the main street, less than 5 minutes walk each, plenty of shops and chemists, and numerous cafes and bars close by. Pizza hut is a 5 minute walk away, across the road and turn right at the lights - a supermarket is also next door to Pizza Hut.
The Palacio de Deportes Comunidad de Madrid, a sport and concert venue, is just 2 metro stops on the circle line, at O'Donnell. We were there for a rock concert, and the ease of getting to the gig was excellent.
The staff are very polite, and helpful, as far as no Spanish on our behalf and limited English on theirs, can enable communication.
Overall, I would use this hotel again, but disliked the plastic matress protectors which made the bed uncomfortable and hot, and the noise of the bin wagons every night.
a good base for exploring Madrid.
