We really enjoyed this hotel. The best feature was the little kitchenette. My 13 year old son is VERY picky, so it was sometimes hard to find something for him to eat. Every night, I made a big plate of pasta for him. The kitchenette just has a stove top, refrigerator and sink. No oven or microwave, but, it worked out great for us. The location was superb. It was about a 5 minute walk to the Metro (Madrid's subway). There was a little market about 3 minutes away (that's where I got the pasta), and the laundrymat is about 3 minutes away.

The only negative: the doors to the rooms do not shut easily so you kind of have to slam them shut. That can get loud when you are trying to sleep.

It was my first time to Europe, so I have nothing to compare it to. Overall, I liked it a lot and would stay there again.

Suite Prado hotel is situated in the heart of the historic distric on a narrow, cobbled street (cars can still pass). There are tons of restaurants, bars and busy plazas all around; the Train Station, Retiro Park, and the Museums are all within a easy walking distance (no luggage). Our apartment was VERY spacious and the ceilings were very high (over 15 feet). The bedroom had two french doors (one on each exterior wall) which opened up onto a small, Juliet balcony. Everything is painted white which makes everything feel even more fresh, clean and bright.

I just arrived back from a 7 day holiday in Madrid yesterday and I couldn't wait to give this hotel a great review. From start to finish it was wonderful.

The Room:
The room itself was very big with everything we could have needed, I had read that the fridge was tiny but the one in our room with great, we took all the drinks out on the first day so we had more than enough room. The kitchenette was very useful but we really only used it to make pasta/rice and sauce so I'm not sure how great it would be for a big meal. We were given room 204 which looks over the street below and the entrance to the hotel so we were expecting a lot noise but to my surprise (having read every review I could find) it was very minimal once the windows were closed. The Air Conditioning was amazing, it was between 35-38 degrees the week we were there so I'm not sure we would have survived without it.

Location:
The location was perfect, it really felt like we were in the center of the city. Almost everything was within walking distance Puerta del Sol - 10min Walk, Retiro Park - 15min Walk, Prado Museum - 10min Walk and Plaza de Santa Ana was 30 seconds away which was perfect when looking for somewhere to eat and drink.

The Staff:
The staff were very helpful, we managed to get to the hotel much quicker we had expected but the hotel staff had no problem letting us check in an hour early. Also we had tickets to a Real Madrid friendly and we were a little worried about them not arriving in time but they did and the staff made sure we got them right away.

Getting to the Hotel:
We were expecting problems getting to the hotel because a lot of reviews said even Taxis couldn't find the street. We got the Airport Bus to Plaza de Cibeles (€5, takes about 20 minutes from Terminal 1) and then walked 10 minutes to the hotel, we checked google street view before we left which made the walk easier but its really not far.

The only faults I had with the room was that the WiFi was undependable at best, even first thing in the morning when you wouldn't expect anybody else to be using it it was weak, also there was only one room key and we had to give it into reception whenever we went out but overall it was a fantastic hotel at a great price and if I'm back in Madrid I was defiantly be staying here.

Spent 5 nights here in 08/2013, booked through Expedia (around CAD 85-90 per night on average).
Ordered online the shared airport (Madrid Barajas) transportation from AeroMobile (EUR 22 each way) - a little quirky: "from" (the airport) you pay the driver in cash with just a lock on a credit card, "to" it's charged on the credit card when booking online.
Quite large room, good but rather small bathroom (beware the 100-litre notice: shorter showers if many guests in a room), functional safe, built-in reliable air conditioning. Interesting elevator: small and with doors on two sides, a different door opens on the ground floor than upstairs.
Great central location, many things (including the Prado Museum) in short walking distance.
Some issues:
- The wireless Internet is unreliable, you might have to move around the room/bathroom to get a better signal (no guarantee). It can get frustrating if you really need it for something.
- The room is unlocked with an old-style key (not a magnetic card) that you must leave at the reception. There is a separate magnetic card you use to have power in the room (the air conditioning is independent of it). There is no interior safety chain/lock on the room door.
- If you have a street view, you could get some noise by night from loud(er) people walking around the hotel.
Overall very good.

I spent 5 nights at the Prado Suite Hotel and I would definitively recommend this place. First of all, the location is excellent : 5 minutes walk from Sol Metro station, 2 minutes from charming Santa Ana Plaza, many restaurants, shops... Adn very close to the museums (Prado, Thyssen) and the Retoro Parc.
Then the air-conditionned... Very useful during the VERY hot summer of Madrid.
The place is very clean and comfortable : I had the studio with a kitchenette. Very nice, quite calm (for a spanish town). And the service is excellent. My only comment would be that the fridge is too small - in fact it is not a fridge, it is the mini bar. So if you want to keep things cool you have to put all bottles out of it. But anyway, all the rest is perfect.

Suite Prado had a fantastic location. We reserved the family suite. The extra space was fantastic. I can't believe this place is not rated higher on tripadvisor. This hotel is in the middle of all the action but not on a main road so you don't get all the street noise. The convenience of the location was just fantastic. My wife and I really loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Get the family suite - worth the updgrade
