We visited this place on 14/15 October 2012 and found it closed. It appears that it has closed permanently. Then we decided to go for "La Biotika" (near metro Anton Martin), 900m walk from this place (more by transport). The food was good at "La Biotika". It was 10.90 euros for 3 course meal. I guess it's around 14 euros at night and during weekends.

Pros:
Just a minute stroll from Plaza Mayor hides this small vegie fast-food restaurant.
Maoz has branches in NYC and Paris & London and in this one you can find for 6 Euros salads, Fries and a beverage. quite a bargain.
The salads were fresh and tasty.
Cons:
Lunchtime is hectic. The line can reach the entrance.
There is just a few spots to sit down. I recommend to take it with you and find a spot in Plaza Mayor.
Please note that the place is closed on Saturday.
All in all: a great placefor a tasty bite.

It's like a fast food place for veggies. Very simple and good value. There's a salad bar and you can choose your ingredients. Fresh and varied. Another small place in the center of Madrid where you can eat, cheap, fast and carry on with the rest of your business.

Once you tire of Spanish food, Maoz is the place to go, for a Middle Eastern-vibed veggie experience. The most delicious falafel and so many different fillings. The problem is: how to eat the damn falafel pita without messiness! Impossible! Of course, you could have all the fillings as a salad rather than in a pita, less messy. Yes it's super healthy but you could have some fries on the side, which they also do!

We found this place of the happy cow website. I was a little hesitant because I'm not into "middle eastern food". I was so pleasantly surprised and the falafels were super yummy as was the hummus and guacamole. We ended up going back the next day for lunch. The only down side is its warm in there and it's more of a take out place but that's what we were doin anyway
