The hotel itself was fairly basic, the room had two twin beds pushed together, wardrobe, mini bar, desk and bathroom, all clean but quite dated decor. Our view was just of other hotel room, and the noise from the chillers was quite loud, although it didn't really bother us too much.

The location is very central, making it easy to walk to most touristy spots in Madrid. 1 minute walk to Plaza De Espana, 10 minute walk to Plaza De Mayor.

The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful staff.

We didn't eat in the hotel so we don't know what the food was like.

A group of 10 of stayed here for 3 night. I found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Even pointing us in the right direction for local nightlife and phoning the restaurant we had booked prior to explain we were running late ( our spanish was not so good).

The hotel admittedly needs updating in decor stakes however for the £90 perperson we paid for 3 nights this really wasn't a problem.

It has a fantastic location ( don't be put off by the lets say adult bar next door but one) and all the sights are in easy walking distance but the underground is about 200m away should you need it.

Madrid is a fantastic City and this is definitely a good place to base yourself for the money we paid.

I would definitely

This hotel proudly displays their four-star rating everywhere you go - on the plague at the main entrance, the tissues, the front desk... I wonder how old this rating is, because from the looks of it, it's probably from the 1980's.

From the moment you walk into this hotel, it just feels like you are on a very old cruise ship that passed it's prime about 15 years ago. If they are so proud of their four-star rating, why not update the furniture in the rooms (which looks like it's been there for at least 20 years), change the carpet, and pretty up the main lobby?

Our first room was overlooking a strip club and a police station. There was always noise on the street, so we asked to be moved, and they switched us to a room facing a wall, which, I guess, is better than a strip club.

In the evenings, they have a live piano bar with a great pianist singing Sinatra. Breakfast was ok. Location was ok, too - but there are so many options in Madrid that you could probably find better for the money. The front desk people are friendly and helpful, and they try hard to make sure you have a good stay, but please, Best Western, cough up some money to fix this place up!

I've stayed here three times. The hotel offers the basics to enjoy the best he has: the location in the center of Madrid: you can walk to many of the places of interest. The hotel is clean, professional and friendly service. There are rooms more renovated that other, but all of them offer more or less the same. Rates are accord to hotel level. Internet services are not good and very expensive. The piano bar at night is a nice place to have a drink before you go out.

My adult daughter and I stayed at the Mayorazgo for five nights in April 2011 and felt completed satisfied. We found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, our room was spacious, and everyone who worked there was very nice. We had a Superior Double which had an enclosed balcony, no view but delightfully private, and where we could enjoy a glass of wine together each evening. The hotel is a short walk from two metro stations and is one block off the Gran Via. The large breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, got each day off to a great start. Other reviewers talked about noise from adjoining rooms but we did not experience that at all. We would be happy to stay there again.
