Have been going there for years and it is very centrally located for both business and pleasure. The location has access to all transportaion and places to eat. Rooms are spacious and modern, very comfortable beds. LOVE BEING THERE EVERY TIME I AM IN MADRID. There is a nice terrace to use in the summer. No swimming pool but that is not why you go to Madrid.

The hotel has good, well-maintained, facilities. The lobby is spacious and so are the rooms and bathrooms. The fixtures and furniture are modern. The beds make for soothing, comfortable rest and sleep.

The breakfast selection is generous. Different types of coffee can be had from the coffee machine. Tea and chocolate drinks are likewise available. Yoghurt, fruits, cold cuts, cereals, bread, cheese are provided in several varieties.

The only problem we had in this hotel was the airconditioning in the two twin rooms we occupied for 2 nights. Everything works well in the evenings, after setting the thermostat and fan speed. Strangely, we noticed that towards the morning the rooms became warm, and no amount of manipulation of the aircon adjustments could bring back the cool temperature. It seemed that the airconditioners would automatically go on "fan" at a set time in the early morning hours.

After our first night, we did not report it to the reception counter, as we thought we might just be imagining things. But after our second night , we reported the airconditioning problem to the lady manning the reception counter (Sept 9, around 6:30am), who was surprised to hear about the problem. Initially she sounded as if she wondered why we were complaining when there's supposed to be no problem with their room airconditioners. But anyway she asked me to write a report to the hotel manager describing the problem. She learned from another guest who was checking out that her airconditioning too was not working. I overheard this guest remarking about it, although she did not know that we had a similar problem in our two rooms.

I would have given an "excellent" rating to this hotel, but due to the airconditioning problem, I would rate them one notch down.

By the way, the hotel is conveniently located near the Arguelles metro station. But guests going to this hotel shoiuld remember to use the exit adjacent to the El Corte Ingles department store (not advisable for you to emerge from the opposite end of the station to Calle de la Princesa, as the walk to the hotel can take 10 min longer). As you get out of the station, orient yourself so that you face Calle Marquis de Urquijo, with Calle de la Princesa on your left side (the two streets are at right angles to each other), T3 Tirol is about at 10 o'clock position from where you are. Cross the streets towards it. I offer this guide, because it is not easy to spot the hotel, especially at night. We got lost for about 15 min walking up and down the streets, failing to spot it, until a taxi driver pointed it out to us. We also saw from a distance their neon lit signage atop their building. Nobody can see that right away! Even at day time, at street level, one can't readily find the hotel because their signboard is not too conspicuous.

Overall, the hotel is a good place. I hope by the time readers of this review decide to go there, when in Madrid, the airconditioning shall have been fixed.

We stayed at the Tirol for 3 nights (September '12) and found it quite serviceable. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Everything worked (lights, A/C,shower, etc) and the room was larger than most European hotels. The decor was European modern and very pleasant. They had a computer and printer that was free if you could find a time that it was "free". The hotel had Wifi but they charged 8.5 euros for the stay. Location was very good in relation to the Metro which was one block away. In addition the hotel was about 3 blocks from the Parque del Oeste which was a nice little city park although not as maintained as other city parks. The hotel is within walking distance of the Palacio Real but the metro is easier. We did not find an abundance of good restaurants or good tapas in the area. The desk staff was friendly but seemed rushed all the time. They spoke about as much English as I spoke Spanish, so no complaints.

Room Tip: The rooms on the back are quieter and offer as much light as you would want.

We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend (September). We didn't spend long in the hotel, just because we wanted to spend as much time as possible out in the city and, as a base for that kind of weekend, this hotel was absolutely perfect. Clean, convenient, close to the action but not noisy (1 min from the metro station and 4 stops from Sol.) It's a bit 'no frills' but you're paying 'no frills' prices. For what it is, it's very good.

The location of this hotel is fine - its a few junctions up from the start of Gran Via and easily walkable in 10 mins or so. We booked this via Avios and on arrival were offered the choice of an internal room (descibed as quieter) or an outside room (described as lighter). We went an external room and were then offered a room upgrade for 10 euros per night. We went for the upgrade to a larger room and were happy with it - it was a reasonable size and faced the front. The shower was great, nice large bed, spare pillows etc - all good.

The only problem with the room was the air conditioning (we were in 609) - or lack of it. There was a control panel and vent but other than humming it did little else. Reading previous reviews we realised complaints were likely to fall on deaf ears and as we were only there for 2 nights opted to "sleep" with the windows wide open instead. So the choice was between cooler room and loud traffic noise from the street or room far too hot but quiet. Neither option led to a particularly great nights sleep.

The breakfast was fine too and the staff friendly. I've rated the hotel as average as that's it really - nothing terrible (other than air-con), nothing excellent. Would I stay here again? Probably not - average is so easily beaten nowadays and and a great nights sleep is pretty essential in a hotel stay.

Just back from Madrid and we had a great time. The hotel has a good( but quiet) location, right beside the Arguiles Metro Station that has two great routes to all the main tourist areas and provides easy access to many others. Just a few minutes walking from the Temple of Debod and the Parque del Ouste, 15 minutes walk to the plaza Espana and Gran Via and across the road from Zara, Mango and El Corte Ingles where you can shop to your hearts content.
Very clean and well laid out the fully air-conditioned room was ideal for our needs. The staff are friendly and helpful at all times and were really nice to our children, especially since none of us are great Spanish speakers.
Did not have breakfast at the hotel as we liked to be out before the sun got too hot but there were many other local options around if required.
If you are staying be sure to use the roof terrace, it's almost a secret. It was hardly used while we were there but is wonderful for sunbathing or lovely and cool for a drink on a warm summers evening and has amazing views across Madrid and the surrounding area.

Hope to return again and would definitely stay here again if in Madrid

The hotel is spacious and clean, with a modern feel to it. I really enjoyed the layout of my room, which was open, with a nice bathroom, bed, and desk, and light hardwood floors. Not much of a view out to the city, but fine. The location is also good, within walking distance of many sites and good restaurants, and less than a block from the metro. The staff were fine, but not particularly friendly. The main downside was that the air conditioning seemed a little weak, and had to run constantly. In the middle of my last night it broke, and the room heated up. I solved the temperature problem by opening the window, but that created a sound problem, as it seems the Madrid nightlife doesn't die down until 5am! But overall my stay was quite pleasant, and the room was worth the very reasonable price.
