“Great Location Great BB Great Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Three ladies run the 14 room B&B. Alina, Irma and the housekeeper - all work hard to assure your stay is grand. The B&B is located accross the street from the Westin's Palace Hotel - which is lovely and grand - although it is a convention hotel, and the businessmen stand out front and smoke all day. Fine for a convention - but expensive for couples or families that are on vacation and do not get the convention rates. Therefore staying accross the street at the Lapepa Chic B&B is one way to avoid the high prices but take advantage of the superiour location.

This B&B is located in an office building on the 7th floor - next door to the cafe accross the street from the Palace Hotel. There is no large sign, so be aware to look for a small sign - and once inside the office building take the elevator up to the 7th floor. Once you enter the Lapepa you'll be in a chic, modern, minimal, effecient, clean and moderate space - kitchen and office great you - surrounded by small, very very clean, effecient and more than adequet rooms.

They offer breakfast all week, 5 days right there in their kitchen, and on weekends you eat at the cafe (no charge) next door. It was very nice - loved it! The park, all the museums and all the tapa areas are within easy walking distance. We were delighted with our stay and with Madrid.

We would recommend the hotel to all our grown children, to our friends and we highly recommend it to you.

The service and attention was wonderful. I felt welcomed from the moment I checked in and having spent 5 days there, found it to be the ideal home base. Irma was extremely helpful with any info I needed. It is so well located, I walked to all sections of city and did not have to take the Metro but the station is very close by. It is also only 3 blocks from the airport shuttle drop off. It was safe and comfortable and extremely clean. Very nice decor with great attention to modern detail. I plan to return to Spain again and definitely will stay at Lapepa again!

The Madrid heat hit us the first day & night of our stay and the A/C couldn't keep us cooler than 80 degrees. But I have to give them credit for fixing it cause the next night almost froze us out at 60 degrees.

Great location, good breakfast, and wifi works so couldn't ask for more at the price

Be aware, bathroom/shower is TINY so be prepared to put your toiletry kits on the floor.

Great location, price reasonable for madrid! Staff tried to be helpful but limited by their being new to the city, from Rumania therefore not knowing really what going on. This was a problem at the weekend when we tried to get the airport express bus front the stop up the road and because of the Vuelta bike race bus stop moved and no taxis available! Tea and coffee making facilities good in the kitchen. Breakfast ok on Friday, juice, yogurt, cheese and ham, etc. however,no service on weekend and you go to the cafe downstairs to get 1 cup of coffee and a croissant . Worse than all this though was stifling temp in the roon. When we asked for air on to be turned on made no diff until last night(third) just before we left.

The location is excellent, nearby the Prado Museum, Ritz Carlton, The Palace and the best int is that you don't have to depend on a taxi or a bus, every interesting place is within a walking distance. The decoration is lovely, the accomodations are very comfortable, the place is new and
absolutely neat. The best for the last: we got a very warm welcome, with directions and tips to
enjoy our staying. And we really did it!

We booked LaPepa Chic mainly for it's location, and in that respect the place can't be beat. It is in front of The Palace Hotel, one of Madrid's landmark luxury hotels. We arrived from our trasatlantic flight early and were told the rooms were not ready, which we understood. The check in was at 3:00pm so around 2:00pm we were beat (our group had one very pregnant lady!) and we returned to the hotel. We were told that the room were ready but if we wanted to occupy them before 3:00pm we had to pay an additional 13euros per Hr.!!! We travel quite a lot and this is the first time a hotel has asked for additional payment to occupy a room a little earlier. This policy was not disclosed when we booked. This soured my impression of this place, even thou the rooms were clean, confortable and adequate for the price.
Another thing I did not like about the place was that the hotel is in an office building in the 4th floor, you have to ring the intercome for them to open the door and get to the elevator. The area around the elevator was not the most appealing and it had a sour smell.

Stayed at Lapepa with my beau and it met our expectations plus some. Our room was modern, extremely clean , and quite creative in decor! The ladies were quite helpful, no matter what our questions and the location was within walking distance to the museums, great restaurants, shops, the airport bus and the double decker red tour bus stops. We would definitely stay here again!
