Stayed as a platinum member on a great BOGOF rate over 4 nights...the fantastic Veronica checked us in and told me of the perks.20% off bar/restaurant, free wifi and a great room with 2 doubles in it. Good aircon as well.... A small and perfectly square pool up on the roof.

Will always return

This hotel has a very good location close to Santiago Bernabeau, several shops and restaurants. The nearby metro station will also take you downtown in five minutes.

The reception and lobby were big and very nice, there were even two restaurants and a bar. There was also a spa, but it was very expensive so we did not try it. The rooft top pool was also a nice touch.

We were staying in a king size room with a seperate dining area which were nice, with two TVs and a sofa.

The bed was very big and comfortable. The aircondition however was noisy and gave us a cold the first night.

Our only big complaint about this hotel is the expensive breakfast which is not included, even in the more expensive rooms.

Dear Guest,

First of all, thank you very much for writing a review about Holiday Inn Madrid. We are pleased that you found correct our location and enjoyed our pool and our large beds.
On the other hand, we regret to read that you found our breakfast expensive, but as you've probably seen, we have a wide selection of sweet and savory, hot and cold, etc., to satisfy the tastes of all our customers.

nice hotel with clean basic rooms. pool on the top roof and small fitness. next to santiago bernabeu, however quite far from city center - 10 EUR in a taxi. Rate without breakfast is very reasonable. Plenty of places to eat close to. No free WIFI in the rooms. Average standard for a four star.

We spend our last night at The Holiday Inn Madrid before flying back to the US. The room was simple in its design and furnishings.
it was also very clean. Bed was comfortable but the toilet in the bathroom was placed very close to the wall with a shelf next to it. Im not over weight and in order for me to sit comfortably I had to lift my arm and rest my elbow on the shelf with the shelf under my arm pit. The the toilet paper roll was up under the shelf. It was the most uncomfortable bathroom I had ever used. I couldn't imagine staying in the room for any length of time with the toilet in this position. For one night it was tolerable.

Arrived with family on a rather long flight and upon arrival was given the room key. No problem there until entering the room which stank despite being on a no smoking floor. At first I could not see that the advertised room safe was not present as three of the bulbs in the lights were not working. Back to reception and another room, after an hours wait for it to be cleaned. This one did have a safe as advertised.

One or two of the reception staff appear to be able to speak English, however it was difficult to tell due to a general surliness. Asking for assistance to book trips met with a 'they go by 07.30, you're too late'....this despite the fact that in four days we never ever saw anyone at the tour desk area, let alone close to it.

Try speaking in English and you are met from some of the staff with a Fawlty Towers-esque type 'que?' in reply.

Thankfully there were at least a couple of staff who occasionally smiled and who could speak English.

Eventually we did book a tourist trip to Toledo and were told to be at reception by 0730 the next morning...which we were. Come 0820 and nothing. It was then suggested that as we had not been there by 0730 we had missed the bus; which was complete garbage. In the end, the hotel had to pay out to take us by taxi to the coach embarkation point.

As advertised, the hotel has a swimming pool on the roof. They just seem to have forgotten to mention that it's not much bigger than a bath tub.

Wi-fi is available in the hotel rooms for a price...and it is pretty steep. 11+ Euros per day.

The hotel is however close to the stadium of Real Madrid, which must be great if you are remotely interested in soccer. Luckily there were no matches on when we were there. I hate to think what the hotel's clientele are like on these weekends.

Thankfully however, the Holiday Inn Madrid is also close to the Santiago Bernebeu Metro Station and to a stop for the tourist 'hop on hop off Route 2' buses.

The general area in which the hotel is situated looks pretty awful. There is graffiti on the walls on many of the buildings nearby, however I have to admit that this seems to be fairly widespread throughout Madrid.

On the up side, there are quite a selection of restaurants nearby and eating out was certainly cheaper than eating in. It's also only a 30+ Euro ride from Terminal 2 at the Airport.

I notice that some business travellers have said that this hotel is in a great location, which it might well be for business people, but for tourists it's too far away from the old town to be convenient.

Overall, I certainly won't be back. It was too much like Fawlty Towers.

Dear Guest,

We are truly sorry that due to some cirsunstances, your stay in our hotel was not as grateful as expected.

Regarding the tours, let us first clarify that we have not a special tour desk area, the tours are sold directly at the Reception Desk by any of the Receptionist on duty. Unfortunately, the tours company is external, the only relationship with the hotel is that we sell the tickets through the Reception, and despite we are not responsible about their mistake when they did not arrive on time to pick you up, we paid the taxi so that you could arrive on time to your tour, this made with the best goodwill of our employees in order to try to get the maximum comfort and satisfaction for our guests.

If there is anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact the Management.

Yours sincerely,

I stayed at the Holiday Inn for two nights on a business trip to Madrid. The location was perfect for me, just around the corner from the office building I had to go to. It is a bit far off the city centre for anyone just visiting for leisure who wants to explore Madrid's sights. The hotel can easily be reached via subway, as it is located at the linea 8 that goes straight to the airport. The rooms are quite big and comfortable, a choice of pillows is available, breakfast can be ordered to the room without any extra room service charge, WiFi works brilliantly. The hotel also has a small gym with steppers, treadmills, a rowing machine and some weights. It has a rooftop pool that was closed when I stayed there (a bit weird, as it was already June). Overall, I was very happy and comfortable in the hotel and would choose it again!
