If you are looking for a quick bite, this is the place! There are a few located around the city, and 1 Euro for a sandwich is the best deal around.

Just a place to buy spanish ham (janon). The price is not better than at other supermarkets (f.ex. el Corte Ingles) and when asked if I could taste a small slice - to know what I was buying - the sellsman was extremely rude, denying any possibility of tasting before buy. Absurd.

Good for a snack, we popped in for the promotional €1 sandwich, we had one chorizo and one cheese, then mixed the fillings. They weren't great, chorizo quite greasy, but they did the job. We went to sit down but got ushered out because we'd only had the promotional food... So yeah, only good for a snack

Really cheap option for a typical hamon paguette (bocadillo de jamon), costs 1 euro, and the bread is just getting better and better every time I go. They also have a menu and other foods. It´s not so loud as other traditional tapas bars, the barmens are not shouting all they can... but it can get really crowded fri-sat evenings. Everybody comes to take a cheap beer: a glass (caña) costs 0,70 euros, 0,5l (jarra) is 1,5 euros. And 5 bottles in ice costs 2,50 euros.
Recommend!

This seems to be a chain of restaurants. The ones in calle mayor and puerto de sol are really good with fresh bread and ham sandwiches.

Try the boc mixto-ham and cheese. We had two sandwiches, a beer and a wine; all for 5?!!! Thats a true value meal...the standing bar concept is good and moves quickly, although it was terribly crowded...

The reason I gave it 3 stars is because they hugely over charged us (& not accidentally!) on the salami we purchased...which we only realized later; kinda spoilt our impression of their otherwise friendly efficient service.
