A three night stay here was luxury. So convenient for all of the city, very clean & excellent facilities. We found the concierge very helpful especially with our cases on the last day & reception staff. Although we didn't get into the roof top pool we did manage to sit in that area & enjoy the waiter service from the bar & the magnificent views from this area over the city. If you have time don't be afraid to explore this hotel & what it has to offer, the drinks & food are a little pricey but you are in a top notch hotel in the heart of Madrid.
Thanks again for a great value stay.

Room Tip: We were in room 416 a bit small & looked out over the back, so no view but very quiet & clea...

Emperador is located on Gran Via, in walking distance to Puerta de Sol and a lot of the other nice areas in Madrid. It's a bit worn down, but still is a nice place. The double room we got was very small, not the size or standard we are used to - but we got a nice offer on booking.com. So OK compared to the price. Not 4 stars - especially arriving from Asia were 5 stars are more like 7 stars in Europe.

The best thing about the hotel is its loacation. Right on Gran Via, with Santo Domingo Metro station just 10 steps away. All the major museums, Sol, Opera and other attractions are just ome or two metro stops away.
The lobby is impressive,, rooms (mine was a standard single) are regular. They charge 13 Euros for 24 hour wi fi access which is too much. Also, if your room comes with breakfast, it is a cold buffet. You have to top up 5 Euros each morning for a hot 'emprador' buffet.
Ask for the a room on the rear, otherwise the street noise gets to you especially on Friday & Saturday nights.

Walking distance to puerta del sol, Cheuca/markets, royal palace... However, no complimentary wifi (wifi was 13 Eur/day) so it was extremely inconvenient for us when we had to locate places. There is a Starbucks across the street with wifi but they limit the use to 45 minutes. The room was basic (triple room included a king size bed and a sofa bed, they separated the king size bed into 2 twin beds) and not too big, we did not access the pool since it was cold during our stay. Absolutely no view from our window besides the wall/window of other rooms but we weren't in the hotel room most of the time anyways.

The hotel is well situated in the centre, it is on a busy main road however this has its advantages as there are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Its also in walking distance of the main shopping area, a lovely square with lots of amazing restaurants and much more.

We were a large group of ladies on a hen do (10 of us in 5 rooms) and had requested we all be on the same floor, when we checked in we were told that the hotel could not put us all on the same floor which was not an issue as it had just been a request however they upgraded our rooms to superior rooms and gave us a free bar for the duration of the stay in this little room.

The hotel room was lovely, a large double bed, nice bathroom which was very large and a nice view on to the main road (not one of the internal facing rooms).

The pool on the roof top is amazing, it does get very busy and there are only a handful of loungers by the pool, the rest are on the fake grass are but there were plenty. The pool bar has a good selection of drinks and food. All though the most expensive we bought it was probably the nice sangria we had all stay and the salads are amazing.

I will definitely be staying here next time I visit madrid.

We stayed at the Emperador for two nights a week ago and found it a great choice, for all the reasons described in other Trip Advisor reviews. It's central location is a real bonus and it's a very good value. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. Otherwise, street noise, seemingly all n...
