The hotel is well situated in the centre, it is on a busy main road however this has its advantages as there are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Its also in walking distance of the main shopping area, a lovely square with lots of amazing restaurants and much more.

We were a large group of ladies on a hen do (10 of us in 5 rooms) and had requested we all be on the same floor, when we checked in we were told that the hotel could not put us all on the same floor which was not an issue as it had just been a request however they upgraded our rooms to superior rooms and gave us a free bar for the duration of the stay in this little room.

The hotel room was lovely, a large double bed, nice bathroom which was very large and a nice view on to the main road (not one of the internal facing rooms).

The pool on the roof top is amazing, it does get very busy and there are only a handful of loungers by the pool, the rest are on the fake grass are but there were plenty. The pool bar has a good selection of drinks and food. All though the most expensive we bought it was probably the nice sangria we had all stay and the salads are amazing.

I will definitely be staying here next time I visit madrid.

We stayed at the Emperador for two nights a week ago and found it a great choice, for all the reasons described in other Trip Advisor reviews. It's central location is a real bonus and it's a very good value. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. Otherwise, street noise, seemingly all n...

This is a rather old hotel, which you can notice from the sign itself and from the structure of the building. Inside it has an amazing classical style, with a lot of marble and brass. all looks very nice, it seems to go back in time, specifically in the rooms that are spacious and decorated in an old style that I rather liked. The cleaning is carefully done, the bathrooms are pretty nice and linen is fresh, clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately traveling back in time has its consequences, such as crap internet connection which is slow and unstable... yet you need to pay the price of €13 if I'm not mistaken. Honestly it's kinda unacceptable for a 4 stars hotel.
Last but not least you have only a small desk in the room, so in-room dining is virtually impossible.

Room Tip: On Booking.com there is a "Romantic Special Offer", which means a better room (facing the...

Hotel Emperador is as already stated here on a premium spot in Madrid, close to everything, wellknown among the taxi drivers. The rooms (we stayed in 520, standard double room, window to an alley) was surprisingly big and had a huge bathroom as well as wooden closet with drawers and everything. The interiour design is an oldie but goldie; carpeted floors, paintings with lamps on the frame, heavy red drapes covering the windows, BUT it is not new. Everything was a bit "rough", although very clean and neat! The lobby was very impressive and nice, and the hotel bar made super martinis and had great arm chairs to relax in. The staff was correct and nice, but didnt try to impress above that; a bit boring. No tips, no Welcoming, no "how are you".. Very bad not including WIFI in the prize, and the breakfast was a robbery... Overall I would recommend this hotel for people who want a middle class hotel right in the city, with a fancy lobby and a bit funky old time fancy room. And yes! Just nearby is a supermarket! Remember to ask in the lobby, and go there to buy some cava and fresh strawberries and replace the overprized things in the minibar. =) (The pool was closed, cant comment on that.)

Really enjoyed our stay here, hotel is centrally located on Gran Via, everything is within walking distance. The pool is a little oasis in the city centre and considering its €45 for non residents to just use the pool for the day, the price of the room per night is very reasonable. Food is only standard from the restaurant there, not recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel Emperador in Madrid for a long weekend in June of last year. There was a group of 10 of us spread across 4 rooms. Two of the rooms, including mine, were on the side of the hotel where scaffolding was erected and work to the outside facade of the building was being carried out. Workmen started drilling / hammering / sanding work at around 7.30am in the morning and continued till approx 7pm at night, right around and even on our balcony! This work was being carried out all over the weekend too. The workmen could see right into the room and with the window open, they may as well have been sitting in the room with us. Very uncomfortable, not at all relaxing and extremely noisy and dusty. We could not actually hear eachother well enough to have a conversation in the room with the window open or closed. Had no view due to scaffolding and the plastic mesh put up presumably to stop dust from falling to the street. However, this did not stop the dust from coming into our room when we had the window open.We complained at reception and nothing was done. Shoulders were shrugged and that's as far as we got. They were not accomodating and we still had to pay full price for the room at checkout. The hotel did not appear to be at capacity and the other two rooms in our party were on the other side of the hotel and they were not bothered by any noise / dust. I think that they could have moved us but they didn't. It was actually quite unbelievable considering what we paid to stay there as it is quite expensive. It was a shame as the hotel was nice and was in a great location. Was very dissapointing. I would recommend that you find out if any work is being carried out before booking this hotel. The other issue we had was that they had a rooftop pool and bar, which was great, but was closed to guests for most of our stay due to private functions being held there. It seemed unfair that they publicise the roof top facilities (which are a godsend in a humid city centre), but then throw you out quite unceremoniously when they hold their private functions.

Room Tip: Make sure no work is being carried out as they don't mind putting you in a room with workmen inc...
