Near everything - the park is right down the street, the Prada is within walking distance, shop galore, but the best is a fabulous ice cream shop two or three blocks away, the best ever. The doorman suggested it and we went every afternoon we were in Madrid. It was the perfect way to end a day of touring.
Quite a nice restaurant and the breakfast was perfect. Very attractive lobby.

We had a brilliant room with a balcony for sun loungers and dining allowing a perfect view of the city. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Bathroom was a good size. We dined at the Spanish restaurant in the hotel on arrival and the food was impeccable as was the service. The lobster ceviche was my favourite. The wines were excellent and very well priced. Our cheeseboard was outstanding. The hotel is located next to the Retiro, a stunning park, a walk through which takes you to the Prado and the nearby Sofia Reine and Thyssen museums (I have never seen so much incredible art in 24 hours). Within walking distance of the hotel also is a shopping district with lots of elegant bars and restaurants. Perfect hotel to enjoy a short stay. Quickest and most tasty room service ever, again with impeccable service. Definitely requires a return journey!

ATTENTION TO DETAIL is evident throughout the Wellington Hotel in Madrid. The day gets off to a great start with breakfast in the dining room - chefs are on hand to carve succulent slices of fresh prosciutto; just squeezed orange juice and a wide choice of breakfast entries/pastries awaits you. Even the exterior cigarette receptacle is constantly emptied and molded with the Wellington "W." The desk staff was constantly at the ready to immediately respond to any request. While attempting to print my boarding passes for our return flight to the United States, the printer was not responding. Fernando and Pedro came to my rescue and rectified the problem in short order. You will most definitely enjoy lodging at the Wellington Hotel.

I definitely recommend Hotel Wellington Madrid to enjoy a really good service, 5 star facilities and an ideal location.
I stayed in a Junior suite (720) which was huge, nicely refurbished with the best view of Madrid from its terrace.
In terme of gastonomy: Excellent fish and tapas at the restaurant, large range of quality food from the room service, amazing breakfast with all the typical Spanish dishes and cakes! Next time, I will have dinner at their gastronomic sushi restaurant which seems to be the place to be!
The gym has all the latest equipment and is overlooking the hotel terrace and its outdoor pool (a shame i came in November)!
Special thank you to the Reception team who was very helpful and extremely efficient (quick check-in / check out, always a smile, remembered my Room number...).

This hotel has a lot of class compared to the two other hotels that I have stayed in the past in Madrid.

The main lobby is inviting. I was immediately greeted and my bags were taken from the cab. At check in the staff were very friendly and helpful.

My room was typical euro small but was very nice compared to many hotels I have stayed in around the world. The bed was very comfortable, which is a hit or miss in Europe.

The only downside is I could not get my air to work bit it's November.

Next time I come back to Madrid I will be staying here again.

Very well sited in the smart Salamanca neighbourhood at Madrid. The parking is very convenient, with direct access to the Hotel. Public transport is closely accesible. Rooms are very well preserved, but still keep the scent of old luxury hotels. Bathrooms are modernly renovated. Staff is very attentive. Free wifi is available in the room (although high speed connection has a fare). The price is very fair for this good five star hotel. The Goizeko restaurant located in the hotel is fantastic for those willing to try the classic Basque cuisine.

Location wise the Wellington is great, right next to Retiro park, easy to get to from the airport via the metro which connects you to the entire city also the Salamanca district is reportedly safer at night than some of the more central areas?
Service is good too, staff very friendly if a little stiff, perhaps because my fiance and I were a little younger. It did take them 45 minutes to bring an iron to my room though
The room was fine, really comfortable bed, bathroom was a bit dated but still nice, air conditioning didn't seem to work but as it was October we weren't too bothered. No tea and coffee facilities in the room either which was a pity.
On the whole though it's a nice place to stay, well located, clean and comfortable!
