The is an old-fashion hotel with refurbished rooms in a vintage style.
Rooms are comfortable and big enough; toilets definitely need some reforms. But overall this is a good place to stay for a few days.
The restaurant reminds me a 60s restaurant with those tacky chairs and curtains, but breakfast has a wide variety of options and food is not bad at all.
Service at the lobby and restaurant are simplly excellent.
And location makes this place a really good option to visit Serrano area, Salamanca and even the city cente. If you want to avoid the crowd of Gran Via area, you can reach Plaza del Sol in less than 10m by taxi.

For a week's stay in Madrid, we chose this hotel in an excellent location - quiet and residential, yet with plenty of good restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance. Best of all: its situation, being only a short distance from the city centre and on several bus and Metro routes.
The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the rooms quite spacious, beautifully clean, and well-equipped. When our friends had a problem with the bed, they were offered a new room immediately, and without fuss. And the lift worked.
The breakfasts offered a wide range of food, from fresh fruit to cold meats, cheese and smoked salmon, cereals and yoghurts, pastries and cakes, and hot food. For such a small hotel and with so few quests, it was a very impressive range on offer.
At least, if we go back to Madrid in the future, we won't need to spend time researching a good hotel - we've already found it. It was economically-priced too.

Many Madrid hotel reviews warn guests about noise. This will never be a case at Husa Serrano Royal Hotel; it's on super-quiet side street in a quiet upscale neighborhood. My room was so quiet it was almost disconcerting. Rooms are nicely designed- simple and attractive. The floors are mopped daily and kept very clean. Other than daily cleaning, a front desk and laundry, this small hotel keeps costs down by limiting services/amenities. For example, there is no one to open the door for your or to cart your luggage to your room- think no bell person to have to tip. There's no concierge, but the front desk is helpful. (I spoke to them in Spanish, so I have no idea if they speak English.) Most guests here are Spanish, so the newspapers in the lobby are all in Spanish (but include a nice variety from around Spain and offering different viewpoints on the news.) Rooms have safes (but my smallish laptop barely fit inside,) and flat screen TVs, but no notebook about all the hotel's services or room service. No gym, no pool, no sauna. I got a package that included breakfast and was quite satisfied with it. Visitors with limited mobility should be aware that there are about 8 steps to get in the front door and another 5 or 6 from the lobby up to the elevator landing. The surrounding neighborhood is very upscale, with a Corte Inglés department store (including a basement supermarket) just a block away. The Sorolla Museum and the Lázaro Galdiano Museum- 2 of my favorite museums in Madrid- are within walking distance, as is Retiro Park. I stayed here for a week and was very pleased with the hotel on all levels. I would definitely return and have already recommended it to other travelers.

in my opinion the place is good to stay but 4 stars?? I don't think so! the rooms were average and no room service. However, staff was very nice and welcoming and the location was really nice as well.
