Tryp Madrid Cibeles Hotel
Ranked #156 of 438 Hotels in Madrid
Reviewed January 26, 2014

this hotel has a great location, walking distance to old Madrid; Cibeles, sol, etc. Be prepared for slow reception. Rooms small but clean. Noisy if room overlooks Avenue. Plumbing sometimes not dodgy; I showered under a dribble but hotel full so couldn't change. But breakfast is ok.

Stayed in this hotel for 3nights in Jan2014. The hotel has the best location, just around the corner of Gran Via. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars around. Close to metro and tourist hop on n off bus stop. Our room 511 has great street views looking outside to the Gran Via. The room is clean and tidy and with a little balcony. Our only complain is the sound insulation of the room is bad. You can possibily hear cars, sirens, people screaming on the street at night time. I have to had my ear plugs on when I sleep.

We had no issues with noise, had great rooms, and of course, its in a wonderful location! When the beds weren't quite as comfortable as my mother wanted, she asked the maids to add a comforter and they were nice enough to redo the beds and add comforters until it felt comfortable enough of her. They were extremely accommodating! The bathrooms were a great size and they had a nice restaurant area for breakfast, although in my opinion a little overpriced for breakfast in Spain. For the price, you really can't do much better for those types of accommodations and that location. I would definitely recommend this Tryp over the other one on Gran Via.

I couldn't ask for a better location. The room was immaculately clean, with a lovely bathroom. Complimentary espresso in the lobby was a nice touch. The mattress could have been better and the room better soundproofed, but for the price, I couldn't have asked or expected anything better. Above all, one of the best price:quality ratios I've ever experienced. Great experience.

The location is good. But my experience was terrible. Maybe I was unlucky. I booked a double room well in advance with a prepayment. Upon arrival, what I got was a room even smaller than a single room of normal 4-star hotel. It was December but I suffered with heat. The room became like a sauna easily and even if you are entirely naked, you cannot stay inside. I reported this problem, and the reception asked me to keep the window open day & night. I had sleepless night and wanted to check-out earlier than scheduled. But even this was not possible due to the prepaid rate.... It was THE worst experience in a nice city... Spending serious money to suffer....

Me and my partner stayed here for 5 nights and when we got there we immediately noticed how hot the room was. So we set about cooling it down with the air con. After several hours. There was no change in the temperature so we asked reception who told us they would look at it. The next day we noticed it still too hot so we approached reception again who then told us about their winter policy. Air con was turned off throughout the hotel during cold winter months and heating turned on. This wasn't helpful as it was freezing cold outside. Our window over looked a small courtyard so no wind or cool air could get in and the room was roasting.

The hotel is in the perfect location for anyone visiting Madrid for the weekend as a tourist. Close to Gran Via metro station, on the main shopping street and a 10 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. Taxis and buses can be found outside the hotel also. We had a twin room. Rooms are spacious with plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space. Decent bathroom and very clean. There was a free safe, however we did have problems with this. We could lock it but not open it, at least we knew our personal belongings were safe! Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided us with a map and highlighted the areas we wished to visit. Breakfast can be included however we did not take this option. Great hotel and I recommend it for any tourists!
