“Great Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

My husband and I were visiting friends in Madrid, and they took us to one of their favorite restaurants. It had a great menu, everything from tapas to fun lunches or dinners. We ate outside, and it was covered and so pleasant, even in the summer. The waiters were very friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. There were a lot of families, and it was a very pleasant experience. Next time I go to Madrid, will be sure to have a great meal at La Gran Pulperia.

“Ok restaurant, I wouldn't go there for special occasions”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

Good place. As per the name, the Octopus is the main guest...
Food is good, not exceptional but good, the environment is pleasant like in many restaurants in Spain. Good ratio quality/price.
Ok Decor inside, the same is for the terrace, which in any case makes the dinner extremely nice if the weather is good.
Service is "so and so". They forgot twice about my drinks and we had to wait 25 minutes to have the bill....and it wasn't exactly a busy night.
Result: if you are in the neighboroud, a good choice being sure of not being in a tourist trap, with above the average fish and Pulpo.
Something negative, not necessarely fault of the restaurant, in Spain they still can smoke on terraces. Very bad habit....

“Really terrible service”
Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

Ive been several times and it has always been decent. The food is always a 6-8 out of 10 and in line last night, however, the service was a complete disaster. Our waitress and the others who covered the terrace vanished for periods of up to 10+ minutes. After forgotting so many basic things like a bottle of water or bread after several reminders I reached the point of just wanting to leave without paying or waiting 5 min for the check. I chose the 141 euro option for just 2 of us and a serious doubt on giving it a second chance. Not sure if it is the young staff's fault or the management for not training them or not covering well. Just a shame.

“Great Galician Restaurant in Madrid”
Reviewed February 26, 2014 via mobile

Octopus is the piece de resistance in this comfortable and inviting restaurant. Dishes are meant to be shared so order perhaps four different dishes for four people. My two favorites were pulpo a feira (boiled Galician style octopus) and pulpo braseado (broiled octopus) on a potato based sauce. Just Wondeful! Ask for a bowl of cachelos, a galician boiled potato with paprika. Service is expedient.

“First Octopus”
Reviewed February 19, 2014 via mobile

Very large restaurant but nice atmosphere. Food is Galacian and enjoyed it a lot. Octopus, empanada and some kind of bread based dessert which was lovely.

Service was okay, not overly friendly.
