Visited this resturant on a night out in Madrid based on TA recommendations and it lived up to the reviews of others!!!

Started with the salad with figs & cheese - amazing flavour followed by the Hens egg which wa also delicious. Note it takes 20 mins to prepare that starter which is why I added the salad to my dining experience - it was so tasty I am glad I did.

Moved onto the pork entree...everyone must try this - incredible flavour, perfectly cooked meat, very tender...just amazing. So glad I went with this.

With Homaje to Chocolate on the menu I thought it would be criminal not to try it. Light enough chocolate for one...easily shared between two!!! Again, no disappointment in taste - an amazing dish.

In addition to the food being great, the service was attentive and sympathetic to my lack of local language skills. English menus and English speaking staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive to each detail from setting the table, changing place settings between courses, and describing the dishes being served. Muy Bein!!!

So glad I tried Metro Bistro tonight in Madrid!!!

Good food, not as spectacular as some of the reviews on line...but worth a visit. Mains Menu was shorter than i expected...steak tartare: butter fish: presa: hamburgers: squid. The cecino goats cheese was nice to start as were mushroom and ham croquetas & patatas with 3 tasty sauces. Desserts were v good...sugar rush afterwards. 3 starters, 3 mains, 2 desserts, bottle of wine, dessert wine, water and 2 cokes = 112 €.
Couple of gripes...the nice looking crusty bread had just been defrosted and had a cold centre, waitress missed one of our extra dishes and we eventually cancelled it. The same music was on a loop for 2 hours. The same track...not an album.

To be fair our last restaurant Bahia Taberna was so excellent I'm probably comparing Metro Bistro to it, and they are in different leagues in my opinion.

The food's artistic presentation is only surpassed by its marvellous taste.
The bistro has a nice ambient and the waiters are happy to explain the meals and help with choosing.

this place is a good deal. We enjoyed the croquetas with porcini, the orteguillas which are seaweed fritters, something we'd like to see in other countried, and especially the fish dish with yuzu sauce, swordfish actually.
the decfonstructed cheesecake was also interesting, not too sweet. Apple crumble tasty, too. Red wines by the glass quite reasonable and good, white by the bottle a San clotildo for 19.50
total bill for 2 104 Euros

We went in November while on vacation. Not easy to find - it is so low profile we couldn't find it for quite a while, but the search helped us work up an appetite. It isn't far from Templo de Debod.

We went for lunch and got there early, and we were the only customers. Only a couple more tables were filled so it was a very quiet relaxing meal. Mid-week and mid-winter for lunch in a quiet suburb - maybe this is to be expected. The empty restaurant certainly is not a reflection on the food or service, both of which were great.

The main courses of lamb and pork were excellent, especially the pork, and the medley of cheeses was very interesting. One in particular was amazing - it was a softish cheese in a caramelised sugar coating - called something like senisa or ceniza. We had a nice rioja with the meal, and the bill was satisfyingly reasonable considering the quality of the food.

Our Romanian waitress spoke excellent English and Spanish, and was very friendly.

Well worth a visit if you are in Madrid.
