The hotel is not so big, but really nice, newly renovated. The room for 3 was pretty spacious, very comfortable beds, very clean. There was a nice street view, but if You preferre a more quiet one ask for the other side of the hotel. The stuff was VERY nice and helpful.
It's situated just 5 minutes walking from the Plaza Mayor, about 7-10 from Atocha station, 2 minutes from Plaza Santa Anna. The nearest metro station is about 2-3 minutes.
There's a plenty of bars/cafes near by, also for a breakfast, if You don't want to eat at the hotel.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel and have to say that everything from the quality of the rooms to the cleaniness and the breakfast was top notch. But the thing that made our stay special was the staff, they were so friendly nothing was to much trouble, we could not fault them. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Any room would be great.

The room was adequately sized with two large single beds pushed together rather than a double. Sound proofing was good and we had no noise disturbances. Breakfast is very good but expensive - although we were offered a much cheaper price if we booked two in advance. Staff were always friendly and helpful making the visit a delight. The main selling point for us was the location, very central to the things we wanted to see - all within easy walking distance.

It took under 30 minutes after a long flight to arrive for our early check in (10:00am) and upstairs to an absolutely silent room that we could draw the curtains to complete darkness. We slept a few hours and woke to our first day refreshed and ready to see the Prado! If you book online direct with them you will get this benefit guaranteed. I've never stayed in a hotel that can blackout a room quite like this. You need to set your alarm or you could sleep for days.

We took a room on the steer view and loved the open windows out to the cute foot terrace. The beds are twins pushed together and kind of have a little gaping hole. Id ask for a true King or at least two beds sheeted as a King. The bathroom has little privacy as the door is a swinging glass door. So, if your spouse likes to wake before you and shower you will hear it.

The location is great and an easy walk to all the things we wanted to see. The little bakery down the street has a great breakfast under $8.00.

Room Tip: Upper floor with a view is nice.

THE BEST SHOWER EVER! Large shower with a wonderful top-of-the line Grohe “rainforest” showerhead. I want one of those in my house! Plus, there’s a towel heat rack. Didn’t expect such luxury from a 90 Euro a night hotel right in the middle of Madrid. Granted it’s off season (February) so the rates are likely lower, but this hotel is very wonderful. The rooms are exceptionally clean; pillows big and fluffy, plenty of space for the two of us and our large suitcases. Internet service is exceptional. The room was very quiet; and because neither of us were feeling well, we spent more time than we wanted to sleeping in the room.

We did choose to opt for the breakfast which was 12 Euro per person per day. It was very complete (breads, meats, fruit, juices, coffee/tea and you could even have a made-to-order omelet). The staff was exceptional, especially the young gal who multi-tasked between delivering our bags to our room and being the server at breakfast. She was very conscientious; one day my husband wasn’t feeling good, so she offered to bring some breakfast up to the room for him. The next day when he was feeling better and managed to show up for breakfast, she specifically asked how he was feeling.

The hotel staff also called and obtained information for us on Villa Rosa (see separate review) and then made the reservations for us. Not sure if it’s their call that did it, but we were seated in the front row right next to the stage further enhancing an already exceptional evening of flamenco singing and dancing. The hotel was very easy walking distance to Plaza de Santa Ana, to Plaza Mayor and (had we not gotten lost) to Palacio Real and about a 20 minute walk (one way) to Plaza de la cibeles. We had originally planned on booking Artrip Hotel but when we realized the layout of the city and where the main plazas and tourist places were located, we’ve very glad we selected Hotel Catalonia; prices were the same and Hotel Catalonia was certainly more conveniently located. Speaking of, we could have probably even walked, but given how much luggage we had, it was between 6 and 7 Euro cab ride to the high-speed Renfe train station.

The good points first - location excellent - very clean - staff very helpful - reasonably quiet location - not overly expensive.
A few issues though. The suite we occupied was on the very top floor built into the attic space. it was roomy and well appointed. The bathroom and bed was excellent. However there was no view other than from very high windows. The air con was disappointing and didn't keep the room very cool even on the coldest setting. There were actually two parts to the air con, the living space and the bedroom. For whatever reason the bedroom bit was poor. Usual foreign tv channels.
The staff seemed reluctant to replace the used tea bags with new ones, and we had to ask repeatedly. Also we were left with a towel short. To be fair these minor things were dealt with efficiently.
We didn't have breakfast here. There is a breakfast room. There was no lounge as such, but there was a bar with cafe type seating and tv with football 24/7.
All in all very good, but could be better. A lounge for residents to relax would have been nice.

Room Tip: Most rooms will get a street view with double doors. There are rooms facing an indoor courtyard whic...

After a really long day visiting a trade exhibition this hotel provided a welcome oasis. Quiet, despite being located on a major street leading to the centre of Madrid; super clean and well kept; friendly and competent staff. Near to a Metro station; across the road from a quite decent Tapas bar. Wóuld definitely stay in this hotel again.
