“Business hotel with good location”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

The hotel's location is pretty good to explore Madrid - 5 min to plaza Espagna, 10 min to the Royal Palace. There is also a metro station next to the hotel.
The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, very clean.
The staff at the reception is nice.
The breakfast is good with variety of fruits and other food, and great espresso.
The internet is not free.

I stayed here as I was attending a conference in the hotel. The welcome by the reception was very good and they and all the staff were very helpful. The hotel is well located if you want to go shopping. My room was on the 7th floor and it had definitely seen better days - the towels were once white and little rough, the haidryer was cracked and there was no toiletries which is a little strange for a 4 star hotel. Also only offering half an hour each day free wifi in the reception area is not acceptable in this day and age - I would expect more in a budget hotel.

Room Tip: They do offer recently refurbished rooms but these are an extra €30

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your comments , we sincerely appreciate it ad will greatly help us to improve our hotel standards. We apologize for the inconvenience. We can assure you that they are isolated and unusual incidents . We are reviewing our towels stock in case that some were damaged by the washing machine and inadvertently placed in guest rooms. We find it strange that there were not toiletries in your room, since you can find in all rooms basic items and it is informed that we will be happy to provide any other item you may need. Maybe it was a housekeeping mistake, we sincerely apologize . As we have had occasion to explain in our answer to other guests, we are working to provide free WIFI in all rooms (currently WIFI is only free in Club rooms and hotel lobby). We hope you will be able to enjoy this new service on the occassion of your next visit to Madrid, you will be more than welcome! Thank you and kindest regards.

Just returned from staying at this hotel in Madrid; although we were there for a conference it was well placed for central Madrid and within easy walking distance of the the majority of the city centre, so much so that we never used the Metro.

As this was a business visit most of our time was spent in the hotel so we got to know it quite well. Rooms are well appointed, though a number of our party were given 'smoking' rooms without being asked or advising them though when this was pointed out the hotel did immediately change their room assignments. I believe the 4th floor is a full smoking floor so if you don't smoke then avoid it. My room was just above this on the 5th but I didn't smell anything untoward however a couple of my colleagues in supposedly non-smoking rooms said that they could, especially in bathrooms.

Notwithstanding this the hotel was really nice, a few other reviews have said it is dated, I personally didn't feel this, yes the outside architecture is a few years old but then I'm more worried about sleeping and service and in these areas the Husa Princesa scores well.

Food was of a good quality and all staff seemed very helpful. There is also a very good gym available.

One bad mark though is this constant requirement to squeeze every last bit of money out of clients by making us pay for internet connection. Yes there is 'free' wifi in the lobby but is only for 30minutes and this is logged against your room so you can't try and squeeze a bit more. Also the lobby is very noisy if you're trying to make a VOIP/Skype call. Room internet connection is 10Euros per 24hrs and as I heard many people being told this only allows 1 device to be connected at any time. With more and more people having multiple devices why do hotels continue to do this. Make your connectivity free and people will see it as a benefit and be more likely to book.

Room Tip: Avoid 4th floor if you don't smoke and ask when booking in for a non-smoking room.

I actually stayed there not for the first time. And this time, when I was in Madrid I tought that I will check it again. It is nice. Everything you need at a very affordable price (European standards, the prices are not high). I can not say make any negative comment about anything. Internet is cheap, although paid separatelly (20 Euro for three days), wine recommendations in the bar, are perfect and not expensive, location is ok, with a metro stations around, the big mall is next door. What else do you need on a business trip. So, overall, very good.

Was in Madrid for a business trip and stayed at this hotel for 11 days. It has a bar, gym and restaurant.
Wifi was included but not a good speed. Breakfast was ok, not the best one.
Location is the best, close to SOL, hart of the city. Metro station is just round the corner and takes you anywhere you want in the city. Staff and its service is good. rooms are clean and spacious.

I just completed a one week stay at the Husa Princesa and was generally pleased, with a couple of concerns.

The good:
Big rooms, especially for Europe. Lots of space, big windows with a view, especially on higher floors. Large bed, a couple of desks, a couch, plenty of closet space. Very easy to spread out and settle in.
Good location -- not right in the historic district, but it's a nice walk down Gran Via (major shopping street) to get there. Close to Plaza de Espana and the sights near there, and right on top of a Metro stop.

The bad:
Service at the front desk was always difficult. The people were very helpful, no problem with them at all. However, it's a big hotel with a lot of people coming and going, and there never was enough staff. I was always waiting to talk to someone, whether it was checking in or just asking a quick question.
The WiFi (included in some rates, 10E if not) was awful. Really, really, really awful. I was "lucky" to have it included in my rate, but if I had to pay for it I would demand a refund. Don't waste your money on it, looking for a hotspot elsewhere.
The rooms are a bit tired... thin carpet, overall just in need of a refresh. Not a big deal to me, but the room definitely isn't "fresh".

Overall I would probably stay there again if I had reason to be in the area. If I was there for tourism, I'd probably look to something else.
